Welp, I've owned my 4runner for approx 2 and 1/2 weeks, so I've had ample amount of time to start doing 'stuff' to the truck... So I'll start journaling it here!
The purpose for getting the 4runner was because I wanted something more reliable as a DD than my heavily modifed 2009 VW GTI (It has ab out 93k on it) which as of this writing has some serious electrical issues as well as a failed ABS module that VW refused to fix under a recall from the NHSTA. That coupled with the fact that my wife and I bought a house this year, so I've been hauling stuff around and seem to LIVE at Home Depot and Lowes. It's a hell of a sight seeing a guy driving down the road in his lowered hatchback with an entire screen door in it that goes ALL THE WAY to the windshield displacing his torso out the window. Or driving down the road with 20ft baseboards sticking out the sunroof attempting to fly way at any speeds over 30mph. Or better yet, trying to get 1200lb bags of stone back to the house. Needless to say, I needed a 'Truck' or a vehicle that could do much of what I needed, reliably. So after a ton of research and lurking on this particular forum I decided I was either going to grab a 3rd Gen 4Runner or if I could find one in good condition, an FJ100 Land Cruiser. But at the end of the day, the 4runner won out due to the condition and price I could find them for. So, the info below will chronicle the stuff I've done to this rig!!
11/1/17 - 2001 4Runner Sport Package - Millennium Silver - 2wd - Purchased at 196,000 miles for $3k :high5:
11/5/17 - Ordered Black/Smoked LED Taillights (My old drivers side was broken, plus I think these look so much better) also Ordered some eBay Keyfobs for $20 and had some extra keys made for $1.47 a piece!
11/7/17 - Replaced Gas Cap with OEM Toyota replacement. (It had an aftermarket one on it) Also got my first CEL, dammit P0440.
Ordered :
77390-33011 - Overfill Check Valve
77177-33010 - Overfill Check Valve Gasket
77380-26010 - Fuel Cutoff Valve
77179-26010 - Fuel Cutoff Valve Gasket
Also a rear wiper.
11/11/17 - Got some spare time and decided to install my tail lights and also decided to pull the wiper arms off and also the 'stop' for the rear wiper which looked super corroded and the paint on all of them was just in bad shape.
The old :
After pulling the lights, had to clean up the area behind them a bit.
The new!
Windshield Wiper's prior to being sanded :
After pix later, apparently I forgot to take them
In the next 2 weeks or so I'll be picking up 4 x Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 - 265/75R16 as well as some Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers and I will be dropping the tank to resolve the P0440 issue I have the parts to install. Also, I would like to do the Satoshi grill, replace the fuel filter and also install the larger aftermarket B&M Transmission Cooler as well as do some more preventative stuff.
In any event, super excited and love it! Completely different type of vehicle than any other I've owned, so it's quite exciting.
