Instead of trimming the shaft or taking off the bottom piece of the shift knob, I simply inserted a socket set screw into the shift knob prior to install. It gives just enough space to clear the side of bezel/console when shifting out of park. I used socket set screws, metric M8 x 1.25 x 10mm purchased from our local hardware store. Cost under $2.00 for 2pcs. (only 1 required for this mod, allen keys not included).

The issue is when you shift out of park. The bottom of the shift knob hits/rubs against the bezel/console.

Nice! You seem to be the exception as there are posts about having to trim the shaft and or removing the bottom piece to prevent hitting the console.
Same here. I just threaded it on, no spacer no cutting needed.

I've thought about getting one of these, even though my Pro came with a TRD shift knob...which is quite homely. Really, if the TRD is the "fancy" one I'd hate to see the regular. It looks like it'd be more at home in a Sienna minivan.

If you do take off the TRD shift knob you will lose HPs. :bluejump:
If you get a FJC shift knob, there are enough people out there to buy your TRD shifter you could make enough to buy beer! :cheers:
BTW I had to my FJC shift knob, I used a mitre saw and still have not found the shrapnel after it shot off the blade.

I used a 6 mm set screw on mine as well. Only needed 1-2 mm but 6 is what they had at the store and it worked perfect.

I'm just chiming in to reconfirm that this mod works beautifully. I ended up using an M8 - 1.25 x 8mm set screw (it's just what I had on hand). Worked perfectly.
I originally planned on using a dab of red Loctite, however after seeing how easily the stock shift knob came off... I didn't bother.

Yeah some of the earlier models had the back t case. IDK why they got away from that. Automakers think fake chrome and silver paint makes things fancy.

My '15 had a silver t-case knob, so when I did mine I had to buy a black trans and a black t-case knob. They do make a silver trans knob if you prefer to match that way, as well.
