Fj Cruiser Side Mirrors on a 3rd Gen. 4Runner?

Let me ask this?

What is the point of those lights in the mirrors? They're rather small, dim, and don't light up a whole hell of a lot, compared to the headlights. I had a FJ behind me tonight after reading this at work, and noticed that you can't even see them with the head lights on. is it strictly cosmetic, or do they serve a purpose?

Now, this, on the other hand, would be pretty BAMF.

Wouldn't be too hard to fab up either. I just so happen to have an extra set of mirrors laying around. :thumb:

Give me a few weeks and I'll have this figured out. AFTER I get all the other stuff taken care of the truck that I need to get done to it.....

My exact thoughts. I think if you were able to use the side mirrors we have already and put some badass LED's in em it would be awesome. I'm not a fan of the FJ side mirrors on our trucks, kinda looks like they don't belong on the truck. IMO they look a little funny. But, I might change my opinion if I see it done.

I'm not going to use the FJ mirror. I'm going to use the stock 4Runner mirror.

I've got a set on my half doors that I'm going to sacrifice for the cause.

WTH, they're on HALF DOORS. Why not? Worst that happens is they get a hole in them. I only use them when I'm on the road driving to the trail anyway..... On the trail they get folded into the door.

Like everyone else said, I think the whole mirror would look out of place if you could fit it. But, it wouldn't be that hard to install a light in the mirror.

A flush mount Rigid SRM would be cool but I don't know if there is enough room in the housing.

The A-Series should fit without an issue, but I don't know about the light output.

I think if I was going to do this I would install one of these in the outer/upper corner of the mirror as a running light or turn signal.

And one of these in the bottom of the mirror as a courtesy, or rock light.

Hey theres my Truck !Just so everyone knows the pictures above posted by [MENTION=20444]SCA[/MENTION]tadams are pictures of my Truck. I to thought a fj "styled" mirror would be an awesome addition to the look of the 4Runners but the actual FJ mirrors for one are ugly looking,expensive, and not porportioned well haha . So me and my Dad custom Fabricated these using the same stock mirror on every single 4Runner atleast 3rd gens.Were currently in the process of Patenting the idea of these lights and in the future distributing them to potential customers like yourselves. If anyone has any questions feel free to PM me or post it here would love to see what you guys have to say

Ya they were not finished at the time the pics were taken,just high build primered too give them a finished look. But seeing them black deffinently makes me want to actually match the body color like before ha.

Whoever brought this thread back to life should have at least done the mod!

Like those above, I don't think this is a very good mod idea. Specifically, actual FJ mirrors on a 3rd Gen.

Ya, i agree with you about the Fj mirrors they would look all wrong on a 4Runner. But what i did still using the original lights is a great way to change the look and give you extra light while offroading.
