Solid 1990 4Runner

1990_4runner_painted.jpg
  • 3.0L V6 engine
  • Ice-Cold A/C
  • Sun roof
  • 183,240 miles
  • Pioneer AM/FM/CD/MP3 w remote
  • Power Locks, Power Windows
  • 4x4 works great
  • Interior in great shape (except driver seat worn on side)

The truck has been gone over by 2 different mechanics to remedy any issues. Fuel injectors were removed and tested, valve lashing adjusted, new thermostat installed, new rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders installed, faulty CD player replaced.
I am driving it ~100 miles per day now so the tires are wearing out quick from highway speed.

The project site (with more photos) for it is here: http://www.domain-logic.com/4runner

Yet to do:
-Rear window needs relay rebuilt
-Drivers-side rear window doesn't roll down.
-install all 6 speakers (doing this weekend)
-install new front bumper and grill

I am looking for best offer by end of July 2008. (realistically not what I have tied up in it but probably in $2-3k range)

thanks. The paint choices sort of happened when I saw the blue in the can.

Actually, no one has asked about it.
Still got it. It has 191,000+ miles on it now.
A LOT more work has been done to it.

Updated pictures are here:

I would be willing to trade for guns or silver rounds.

thanks for the prompt reply

very good

we will help find you a buyer

lots of folks still prefer the 2nd gens

the 3 slow already rebuilt by now?

no rebuild done, although the top end was tore down to install a new head gasket.

It runs pretty solid.
I wish it were a 5-speed though to help compensate for being a 3.0.

My brother had a chevy 350 small block in his first gen. More than enough power to turn 35" mud tires.

I still need to make a roof basket for this truck. (full roof length).
Would EMT conduit be good enough?
I am thinking 1" or larger.

Great looking truck, you have done a lot of great work to it. It seems your still doing a bunch of work to it and enjoying it- why the reason for the sale?

yes that is a work in progress

not sure about your roof rack ideas teknickle out of my expertise.

I would just watch for some large suv that is getting rid of theirs on craigslist or whatever.

roof racks cause drag thus lower miles per gallon

I have one but can no longer fit in the garage with it on- so it does not see much usage any more.

Man I do miss my 2nd gen at times

good to hear you had the head gasket work done.

Do those things really only get like 12 miles per gallon with the 3 slow and the auto?

I want to get rid of this and restore another Jeep. My last one was a 1990 and it was sweeet when it was done.
It took almost 2 years and I sold it a week after it was done to purchase an Audi A6 (well, a down payment on an audi).

My MPG is 14-15 on average.
Mostly all highway.
I have put almost 10,000 miles on the 4runner since posting the ad on here.

:D
