FJ is sold...

Just got a text from my 4Runner sales guy - he sold my FJ, and the new owner wants my service records. So I think it went to a good home. Sticker was $25K+, but of course I don't know what he actually paid for it. It's strange seeing it in a dealer webpage! I know I made the right call getting the Runner, but I'm still a little sad to not see the FJ in the driveway...

Just out of curiosity what made you sell the FJ? I've been lurking around the FJ forum and getting the bug to trade my 4Runner on one.

I didn't need to sell it, loved the truck, and it was in great shape. I bought it new in OCT 2009. I figured that after ten years, it would probably start dropping in value more quickly. Since I keep my trucks a long time, it was time for something new. I liked the FJ's quirkiness - the looks, white top, other nods to the FJ-40 (I have one of those too). Visibility out the back and sides is as terrible as advertised, but better with convex stick on mirrors. The near vertical windshield is a magnet for road debris (I was ready for a third one). The suicide back doors weren't an issue for us, but may be for some people, especially if you have a car seat(s) for the kid(s). I was also facing a timing belt replacement next year. Moving to a 4Runner was a tough call, and I'm still second guessing myself occasionally. If Toyota still sold the FJ's here, I would have bought a 2020 when they were available, not my 4Runner.
