FJ Shocks and Springs ?'s...

Hey. I might be gettn a set of FJ springs to level out the from of my 05 4runner Limited. He's asking $70 for them. He says they have about 20k miles on them and a small nickle rust spot on one. Is there anything I need to ask before I pull the trigger. He is going to send me pics tonight.

Doesn't seem like a bad deal IMO. Are they the standard Tokico or the upgraded Bilstein?

Bilstein's would give a slightly better ride, but IMO you're still getting a decent deal. Is it local, or will you have to pay shipping on top of the $70?

i just did my front end with the tok's and FJ springs along with a 1/2" spacer and got dang near 2.5" out of it. rides almost perfectly level. I have only 1/8" differnece between left and right sides. $70 is a good deal if you are getting shocks and springs but if you are paying shipping on top of that, you might want to haggle a bit. I don't remember off the top of my head but I do know I did not pay for shipping and it was around 50 or 60 for the front AND rear shocks and springs.
Actually, now that I think about it, if you are just getting the front for 70, that had better include shipping or a local pickup.
Either way, if you get them, you wont be upset once you get them on. I like mine and have noticed that even simple things like speed bumps no longer cause the front to bottom out like before.

Still trying to figure out why you got so much lift from them. This does bring up a good point: if you have a v6 runner, you can (and likely will from what I've seen) get much more lift than us guys with the v8. Personally, I got .5" from them, whereas 810moto got 1.5" from them.

It is a local guy that has them. Actually 5 min away. Also, should i get a spacer kit too or will the springs give me enough boost in the front. I do have the V8 and i thought the weight of the engine might come into play.....

Toytec has a 1/4" thick spacer, which should give 1/2" lift. I'd advise running this, because combined with the FJ springs you should loose about .75-1" of the rake. This will leave a little rake so if you're loaded down it still is level. Others choose the 1/2" thick Toytec spacer, which should be safe with the v8. There is no set amount of lift gained from the FJ springs, so it's very hard to tell. I've not known of anyone with a v8 getting over .75 front and .5 rear. What I did on mine was put a jack under the vehicle, and then started lifting the front up with it until it was perfectly level. I measured, and then I knew that it was the max amount of lift I wanted, so I planned my setup from there. What I think looks good and "level" may not be the same as you, so I'd advise doing this (and remember to account for about .25" lift in the rear).

I have FJ springs and the bilsteins in my V6 and I used the 1/4" toytec spacer and my running boards are dead level. I'm with Swap Rider 1/4" w/v6 1/2" w/v8.
