It is plug and play.It's the same stereo as the factory 6 disc that comes with the 06 to 09 4Runners.Fujitsu manufactures both .The sound quality isn't very good.You may want to check out the Scion 1808,1809 or 1814.They are made by Pioneer and put out 160 watts and all 3 use the same plugs as Toyota.If you have a 2006 to 2009 you will have to do a little modifacation to get the axiliary to work.
