FJ suspension- would 285/70 17s fit?

It'd probably rub a good bit. A 1/2" spacer (1"net lift spacer) and FJC springs would only yeild 1.5-1.75" w/a V8 IMHO. That setup would work well with 275/70/17's though. You can carry a spare with ne issues too. Type that size into tirerack and others and you'll find there's some pretty good choices in that size.

So you would get a 1/2 - 3/4 in front w just FJ springs correct , but would have a heavier duty spring.
