fj80 lc coils lift question

Say if i went into Advanced Auto Parts, or NAPA or some place like that and asked for a pair of stock landcruiser FJ80 front suspension coils... would this work for the rear suspension lift on a 3rd gen? and would they most likely have them?

I didn't see any springs available from NAPA online. If one of those places did sell them then I'm almost 100% sure they would work but you'll have to be a guinea pig and figure out how much lift they will provide.

Landcruiser springs are pretty readily available on ih8mud.com. I have found countless sets for around $40-$60. Even have had some given to me before....how much lift do you want?

The best place is to catch a set in the part out section early. You probably want a 95-97 but possibly a 93-94 will work also. Only a few LC 80 owners know that 4runner guys use their leftover springs as a lift so you will more than likely need to explain the paint codes. I usually cut and paste the chart from our 3rd gen lift FAQs in a PM to the seller and ask which code looks the closest to what they have. (sometimes the paint is faded and purple looks like blue or vice versa). Keep in mind that the passenger and driver side paint codes may be different from each other....not always though.

The ones I'm getting are from SchniperJB.... Parting out 96 FZJ80 - wrecked

First you are going to have to figure which coils you want. There are quite a few different lengths or "wraps". They will give different amounts of lift. The stock LC coils have a spring rate of 160# (stock 4runner coils are 150#).

I'm running 9.25 wraps. They give me a lift height of 24" in back (center of hub to wheel well). This is with my sleeping platform/storage, tools and some camping gear.

There are quite a lot of use coils out there to buy. Mine may be available in a few weeks. I hate to get rid of them because they ride and flex great but like all factory LC coils don't handle heavy loads.
 
i would love to by them off of you if you are still willing to take them out in the next few weeks. just keep me updated on what you do! i am using ih8mud and i have been posting some WTB adds and now im just waiting to see if i get any replys. but since you have the amount of wraps that i want i might just wait until u replace your current setup :bigok:
 
which springs go where?

I just purchased fj80 coils. one spring is the orange white and grey, the other has white pink and blue markings. Which spring goes to which side according to color code? i am putting these on a 97 Runner?
