FJC shock/strut and spacer question

Did some searching but didn't seem to find the answer I was looking for. Found a FJC suspension setup here in Hawaii and was wondering if there were any benefits of the FJC shock/struts vs. the stock 4th gen T4R ones?

Also this is probably a stupid question but, with Toytec 1/4" or 1/2" top plate spacer. Do you install one on each side or just the Driver's side?
