FJC springs + cornfed 1" front spacers + spidertrax knockoff

So in thinking a lot about Ed's sweet recent project ( http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-g...fed-1-front-spacers-spidertrax-installed.html ), here's what I'm entertaining and hoping for some feedback on: Spidertraxs no matter what, and the FJ springs + either the Cornfed 2/1 or the Daystar 2.5/1.5. I've seen pics of 4th Gens with both lifts and like the leveled and lifted look. What I'm running into though is, will either or both of these spacer kits be too much lift in addition to the FJ springs? I know its a matter of preference, and the answer would probably be a hands down "No" if I had plans to upsize tires anytime soon but I like (and don't need more than) the stock Michelins right now. And the reason I'm stuck on using the FJ springs is the more I read about the way this mod affects the ride, the more I like it.

Airbur's 4Runner http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/28931-cornfed-install-yaw-sensor-info.html looks great to me with the Cornfed 2/1, and so does J.A.'s 4Runner 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition Lift with the Daystar 2.5/1.5, but I'm looking at that +.75" including the FJ springs. Leveled with a moderate lift is the goal, and throw in the FJ springs to firm up the ride and Spidertrax to bring those wheels out where they should be.

Lastly, I know I've seen an awesome write up somewhere recently on the differences in spacer lifts. It included the Daystar and Cornfed and discussed the differences in how the kits work with regards to use of top out spacers, preload spacers, etc. It also talked about the use of aluminum spacers like in the Cornfed vs poly spacers like Daytsar's. I've read J.A.'s Daystar install page, which is awesome, but he doesn't talk about the differences all that much. Anyone remember the thread I'm talking about? Thoughts on which spacer lift to go with? I've done a ton of searching, just haven't seen all the pieces brought together the way I'm intending to do it.

I ran a Cornfed 3/1 with FJ springs for some time and loved it.

Blair, what size tires were you running with the 3/1 plus springs? I've see a ton of threads with you in 'em- do you remember one off hand with pics of just the Cornfed 3/1 and springs?

I ran 255/75/17's with that setup, which I just got rid of a few weeks ago. Those tires were too small for the amount of lift I am currently running.

Was that THE Josh you referred to as helping you with the springs? How difficult a project did you two find it (probably not much considering that guy replaced his whole damn engine if it is the_josh)?

Just out of curiosity, why did you choose the CF 3/1 (3/2?) over the Daystar 2.5/1.5 or the Revtek 3/2.25, or another option for that matter?

It was actually the other Josh (HB 4x4, previously Josh220) that helped out.

The fronts are definitely more difficult than the rears, but it is not too bad. Definitely easier if you have a friend to help out.

I chose the Cornfed 3/1, b/c at first I had a 2/1, then decided I wanted more lift, but did not like the rake of the 3/2. Also, I hear that the 2 inch spacer in the rear makes your ride quite a bit stiffer. I liked the FJ springs, they seemed to firm up the ride in a good way.

Quick question: I found a guy on the FJ forum who will give up his springs but the fronts still have the Bilstein 5100s in them.

Can these be of any use to me?

Yes, you can swap in the FJ shocks as well. The Bilstein's are pretty good shocks, you can choose to use them or use a compressor and take the springs off.

I would definitely jump on that deal. The 5100's are good shocks and can actually have their height adjusted as well, so you can avoid the spacer route (If these are the standard 5100's that is).

If you want to match your rears to your front, I actually have a pair of rear 5100's sitting in the garage that I need to sell.

They're all yours Man0. The guy on FJ Forums just told me that he has the full set of 5100s in the springs but initially failed to mention that he "already promised" the fronts to another FJ pal of his.

I have FJ suspension all the way around with a 1" CF spacer except FJ rims instead of wheel spacers . I like the set up , it looks a little different than stock and if basically a little lifted and a little leveled. Sorry I don't have a pic . Handles and rides great though .

I keep trying to convince myself to put in a 2/1 or 2.5/1.5 to get the most out of tearing everything apart but I have no plans on upgrading tires so it would probably look weird. I think I'm going to stick to the plan and follow your & Ed's lead.
