FJC springs in the back

I finally got some FJC springs installed in the rear. The fronts are still to come. I ran into trouble getting the front shock out. However, I do like the rear springs. i measured from the floor to the bottom of the fender flare passing thru the center of the tire. Both sides were raised 3/4". Once the fronts are on with the 1" spacer, I think it will look much better. Not that most people will notice but enough that it is taller than a stock 4R. Pics will come when the fronts are installed.

Sounds good , exactly what I want to do. Keep me posted on the look , height , and ride quality. I already have the 1" front lift , but need to install after lease is up.

I wonder if I could do that on a sport with the Xreas ?

There's no reason I can think of that the slight lift provided by FJC springs wouldn't be compatable with XREAS. When I measured mine, measured springs sitting on the floor that is, the rear springs were identical in length to the factory T4R springs. The fronts were a mere 10mm taller than my V6 springs and only 5mm taller than your V8 springs.

The lift that's provided is more from less 'settling' with the weight of the vehicle than the extra length of the spring. The FJC spring rate is higher. They have thicker barstock and more coils.

FYI- your stock V8 front springs are reported as the same rate, barstock etc. as V6 front spings and 5mm longer.

I thought you were defecting to Tacoland:confused::lmao:

Sure you would be able to do that w/ XREAS.

Any idea on what the spring rate change is?

I don't know... I do know the stocks are 580lb/in and the rears are 180lb/in. OME 883,884 and 885's are 590lb/in (front springs). OME 895 rear spings are 260lb/in. I would have guess the rate of the fronts would be similar to OME and rear probably splits the difference.

This is a great spring summary and the source of much of what I've just plagiarized:D

Here is a pic of the 4Runner spring next to an FJ spring. Rear.

That's exactly what I saw too... The metal is a hair thicker with a full extra turn and the same length...

The reason I am beating this deadhorse a bit is that I recently discovered a part# difference for the '03-'06 vs '07-'08. I was trying to figure out why. Is it simply a vendor change or was there a real difference? So far I am guessing a vendor change... Thanks for the pic.

Doubt it but was just exploring options as we have 3 suv's . Still want to buy mine out of lease (pending value) I love my 4R !!

Finally got the fronts done. I added a 1 inch spacer in the front too. The spacer measures 1 inch thick and it mounted in between the mount and the spring "cup" not in between the "cup" and the spring. Just thought I would clarify. This combination gave me more lift than I expected. Here are the measurements.
Right- 34 1/4 before 36 7/8 after
Left- 34 before 36 3/4 after
I thought 1 to 2 inches would be the gain but I actually got 2 3/4 out if it. Pretty good lift for the money. Pictures should be posted tomorrow sometime.

will this help with the infamous rear sag?

What do you mean? 4th gen 4Runners sit nose low not rear low. And yes it did help with the nose sag. Don't know exactly how much because i put in spacers up front too.

well...4runners have been known to have a bit of the rear sag. I guess a design flaw. It is in many generations of the 4runner. I was wondering if this would help to have the sag not happen. Thats all. I understand from factory, the car has a slight rake effect.

if you dont mind my asking..what was the total cost involved. minus labor cause it sounds like you did it yourself. ive been reading a lot on the FJC set up and it sounds like the way i want to go and a spacer to level it all out

I bought everything (4 coils and spacers) used from a guy who installed a lift. I paid $100 shipped. :bigok: PM me if you are looking for some FJC springs.

I paid a little bit more for mine, but definitely in the ballpark.
$80 shipped for the front/rear springs and $39 for the spacers.

 again to CJ3Flyr for coming up with this budget lift!

JlMilligan, yours looks great!

Does anyone have any pics of FJC springs without front spacers? I'd like to keep the rake, so without the spacers would I end up with 3/4 lift front and rear?

No pics without spacers but I think you get a little more in the front. Maybe an inch. I do not think it would be noticable. For the cost, I think you would be very happy with the mod. Good Luck.
