I acquired four FJ Cruiser wheels w/265/70R17 Dunlops locally. The stock 4R has 265/65R17s. The FJs fit my 2007 4R Sport great. They fill the wheel well nicely w/o rubbing. The 15 (FJ) vs 30 (Stock) mm offset is kinda nice too. The FJs don't have TPMS, but it took a long time (mostly City driving) and a highway trip for the light to start flashing. I'm wondering if it would go off eventually with more City driving. In the course of changing tires, I drove combinations of the 70s and 65s to see if any nanny system objected. I never got a VSC or ATRAC signal up to 60 mph. I'd run a 65 spare on a set of 70s in an emergency, but be aware and take it easy. Others have said a 70 spare will fit so that's an option too. This all started with a plan for spare wheels to mount studless snow tires on this winter. But, I really like the way the 70s fit and drive though so that's an added bonus. YMMV.

That's a great report. Several other folks have used the FJC wheels with good results too. I want a set so bad I can almost taste them:yesyes:
What's up w/your TPMS? Your sensors should've bolted right in from the old rims. OE Rims doing snow tire duty? Just curious.

Yeah, I'm really happy with the wheels and with being able to source them locally. The TPMS is one of the most annoying, frustrating, and useless systems ever. I've read up on the switchable bypasses, but it didn't seem like an easy way evolved for the 07s and later. Anyway, I need to decide which are the "normal" wheels and which are snows and then decide on the TPMS. I'm thinking the FJ wheels would be better normal wheels mainly because they already have the larger tires on them.
Right now I've got the stock wheels/tires back on in an effort to wear down the tread in prep for snow tires this fall. I prefer a slightly narrower/shorter tire in snow tires. Narrower because I think they give better bite & hydroplaning resistance (I read the opinions on wide vs narrow but think that increased friction force from pressure outweighs the reduction in area) and shorter so chains will fit in the wells with more clearance.
Anyway, to actually answer your question, it's because I haven't had any tires off the wheels to get at the sensors. Maybe when the FJ's get changed, I'll collect them for wheelbarrow tire duty.

Gotcha... Cold weather = soft tires and a lower liklihood of checking pressure etc. If it were me I'd consider leaving the sensors on my winter wheels; just a thought...
