Flapping noise at low speed

I have a 2004 4 runner (4wd V6), recently started noticing that when i remove the leg from the gas pedal and let the vehicle go along on its momentum typically at 35-40 miles/hr speed i hear some kind of flapping noise feel as if something is stuck on the tire and is hitting against the mud guard.

Has anyone experienced this ?

thanks in advance.

i saw a big nail had got stuck in the tire which was the reason for the flapping noise, the nail as hitting the road was making that noise

Doh! That sucks, but can you patch it? I've personally have had good luck using patches, the regular ones that you can buy at auto stores. If you go to a tire shop, they can dismount the tire and patch it from the inside which costs more but is suppose to be stronger.

Relying on an outside patch/plug is only part of the fix. I don't know if the inside patch is stronger but it will stop potential corrosion of the steel belts and lead to longer tire life. Whether it is worth the extra cost depends on the value left in the tire.
