Flashing Maint Light?

Today I turned on the car and started driving, and noticed that the MAINT light was flashing. I looked up for a second, then looked down, and it was gone. I later started the car again, and this time I noticed that the MAINT light came on solid while all the other warning lights come on, then blinks exactly 6 times before stopping. Ideas?

I changed my oil about 1k miles ago...

Yeah check it out in your owner manual, there is a procedure to reset the light.

If you don't reset, I believe, it will blink after 6,000 miles and then stay on after 10,000 miles.

Mine blinks about 4750 miles since the last oil change and stays on after 5000 miles until reset.

Its is just reminding you an oil change is almost due or due if it is on solid.

Or search for it on the site if you don't see it in the manual. The instructions have been posted several times.

I just reset mine a couple of months ago. I think what I did was push and hold the odometer reset button while I started the engine. I then continued to hold it, until it went out. Try that, if you don't want to look it up, and see if that doesn't work, I'm pretty sure that's what I did.

Not While you start it, Just push the trip meter reset and hold it then turn the key from ACC to ON. Do not start it. hold the reset button until you see the light flash multiple times then go out. Done

Put the meter in odometer mode first. Then hold down the reset/mode button while turning the key from 'Acc' to 'On' until the Maint(enance) light flashes and you get a series of dashes on the odometer display. The dashes will count down, once all the dashes disappear, you're done.

Mine said to turn the key to the on position, press the odometer reset button to make sure it's showing the Odometer reading and not the trip A or trip B. The turn the key to Off or Acc, press and hold the Odometer button, while turning the key to the On position. The Maint light will will illuminate for 3 seconds, flash for three seconds, stay steady for 1 second, then go out. If it continues to flash and does not go out, then it did not reset, and you need to repeat the process again.

If anyone is reading this for info, this is the correct way to do it. Thanks.

Thanks very much for this info! I just bought the vehicle and was getting a little worried, but since it shut off after blinking, figured it would be something simple like this. Thanks again!
