Any of you guys own or seen any flat black 4runners. I'm looking to do some cool mods for tax return on my 2wd! If flat black looks cool! Then ill consider doing it!

try painting your wheels flat/matte black and see how you like that before spraying your whole car! also a few coats of clear coat will make the flat black outstanding!

I had my stocks painted flat black, looked nice! But ill have a shop do the painting I don't want to mess it up!

lets do an experiment ...

go buy a bunch of flat black spray from Home Depot ... spray your whole car.

Take a picture

wait 12 months

come back here and post a updated picture

I would stick to a quality flat like something by Hot Rod Flatz.. It has just enough shine in it to keep the dirt off. We did flat on a rig once and it is a DUST MAGNET....You can not do enough to keep it clean.

i spray painted my geo black awhile back. it looked decent.

as long as you know how to use a can you shouldnt have any problems.

as for looks on a 4runner.... i say go for it. but i am obsessed with black so... im kinda bias.

There are different kinds of black you might be looking for. If you want true flat black then that is going to look like a chalkboard and have no shine to it. There is satin and semi gloss which have a little shine to it. Mine is semi gloss and I had it professionally done. Those are easier to keep clean but still show water spots really easily.

Have you thought about having it vinyl wrapped? May be cheaper, and can be reversed if you don't like the outcome.

I would like to see those TRD Off Road decals that everyone rocks in Matte Black on a gloss black 4rnr.

I think full car wraps are around $2000 and the wraps aren't going to cover the door jambs so unless it's black to begin with it would look weird.

wraps cover door jams, I have seen white cars wrapped with black vinyl. I have friends that have wrapped their audis with the same concept. It is about the technique.

ok. so i went to subway for lunch. and as i sat there by my lonesome self i was pondering what my 4r would look like all black....

im thinking about doing the plastidip for a day just for the hell of it. i wouldnt even have to mask off any windows...

but removing it all would become a PIA i guess... hmmmm.

I am wrapping my 02 4runner within the next two months I hope.

Purchased all the material, just waiting for a friend of mine to get back from vacation.

Was thinking about going to white vinyl, however I figured it would only take one jerk off to use a sharpie and tag up my ride. hahahah

The process isnt hard, just have to know the right technique.

How much did the materials cost you?

i love the look of the wrapped cars, some guy locally here has his GTR wrapped in the matte white with some of that wicked graffiti sharpie art. It looks sick! i say do it!
