Flat towing

I've been lurking around here for two years looking at all of the incredible builds. I have a 1998 limited 4-runner with the usual upgrades preferred on this forum. I have read all of the "don't flat tow a 3rd generation" threads, but I would like to know what else has to be done beside unhooking the rear driveshaft to be able to tow my rig. If I left it unhooked and got to my destination would I be able to just click it into 4wd and drive short distances? Of course if I was off-roading I would reinstall the drive shaft. I would like not to have to trailer the extra weight behind an already slow rv. Thanks for the any advice. Corty.

If you have 4wd. Use the transfer case and shift it to Neutral (make sure key is off) so the front ADD is not engaged and you should be GTG. Don't bother to remove the drive shaft.

Yes i have 4wd and can shift into neutral. I was woried about lubing the transmission because ive read the lube pump runs off the imput shaft. Ill try it and post back if it goes boom
