A bit more than one year after the Photobucket nightmare, and after moving all my pictures to Flick and edited all my forums and blog post, Flickr announces this:

Why we’re changing Flickr free accounts

... limit of 1000 pictures... I have already 1146...

Pissed off now. Time to move everyting again, but this time it will not be toward another hosting service that will scr.. me next year. Really pissed off.

I’ve had a pro account from Flikr for like 10 years, I’m pissed that they added a bunch of shit I don’t want and the pro account is now going to be $50 a year.

How lame is it that they are allowing you less than 1% of the previous storage limit, 1TB? I would have been completely content with 5%.



All my shit is also on Flickr since the photobucket thing went down. Like hell I am paying for photo sharing just to keep some old build threads alive. I'm done with this.

Honestly, because of how much storage flickr has allowed, it's become a nightmare of shit content on that site. If you watch the sales, you can get a year of pro membership for $35 which is fine if you ask me.

Imgur deletes your stuff if you don't access it for a while, photobucket sucks, and I guess if you don't like it move to somewhere that'll give you free storage.

I for one, ponied up the $35 for space, I don't think it's a bad deal especially because the new owners seem to be addressing a lot of the problems that happened when Yahoo bought Flickr and ran them into the ground.

I registered for one year. This leaves me some time to think about what to do next. Maybe my own domain would end this never ending story of moving from one hosting site to the other. More costly, but this would be the final move.

Exactly what I did as well. I bought myself a year to decide what to do going forward. I have about 1,500 pictures and was about to upload several hundred more when I saw the notice about the Free Flickr accounts not being able to store more than 1000 pics going forward...

I am about to leave in a few weeks for Southern California for a seven weeks trip. I should post a lot of picture in my adventure thread. I don't have time to make the switch either before leaving. That will increase the work, but what choice I have.

I don't know why anyone is surprised by this. Any free/cheap photo storage site will eventually either go belly up or start charging an arm and a leg. I've seen it happen over and over.

Been a member of Flickr forever. It was a great product before the Yahoo acquisition and Yahoo has done nothing but suffocated the product and the community. Hoping the new team brings back the community, and have no problem paying for the space my files are taking up.
