Flip-down LCD monitor.

Just wondering if any one can recommend or share their experience regarding model of flip-down LCD monitor. I am thinking about installing one and would like to hear what you guys have.
Size, model etc…. any info is appreciated. :thanks:

We just bought an SR5 3 months back, we have 2 kids (2 and 4) - we were contemplating putting in a flip down in or a couple of monitors in the headrests. After talking with a buddy of mine (he's done installs for 20+ years) we decided to do neither, for a couple of reasons - if you put a flip down in your truck it's permanent, and they tend to go out in just a few years (per my buddy). With the headrests its very difficult to get the leather/fabric to match your existing seats and so forth, not to mention the money. So, before we go on our ski trip in February (Dallas to Red River) we'll probably invest in a couple of TVs that latch on to the headrests. They are a bit cheaper than either the flip down or headrest, and we can also put them on the front seats if the kids are sitting in the middle seats, or the middle seats if they are sitting in the 3rd row.

I know you asked for recommendations on one, however, thought I would just share my thoughts...

+1 with buying something else. You could invest in an iPad or something of the sort. Toucoul.com makes an awesome headrest mount for an iPad. Plus you'll get more use out of one.

I know this will go against the grain here, IMHO, dont get one.
If you are getting this to keep the kids quite/happy while driving, dont do it. When in the car, that is the very best time to TALK, to your kids, you have a captive audiance lol.
I have two boys, granted they are older and driving now, but I refused to get the DVD monitors when my boys were young, we "talked" to them, they never missed the tv or there shows, we talked about everything, it was awesome.
Heck sometimes when going to the store, we would go to one 30 minutes out of the way, just so we could chat with them and have thier undivided attention, they seemed to love it, cause they would ask us anything and everything, and they, had our undivided attention..

I agree 100%. There are some occasions, however, that we allow some multi media. Generally, we use electronic babysitting for trips over 2hrs long. Usually on vacay and it's considered a treat.
We do not allow tv at home so they appreciate the little "entertainment" they get. My kids are only 2 and 4.

Thank you all for responses. I agree with everything regarding usage of LCD (or any kind of media) for kids. My wife and I always had limited the amount of time our kids (we have a girl she is 9 and boy he is 5) can watch DVD player in the car or TV at home. As an example on our trips from Aledo, TX to Red River, NM (around 10 hour trip) they can only watch one movie.
We have portable DVD player, but in the last long trip it was “skipping” more than it should… so since now I have NAV\DVD in my dash I thought it would be nice to add overhead LCD to be used on those long trips.
