Flooded carpets - best way to dry them.

I need help. I was crossing the Fox River down here in IL and water got in although the water didn't get up to the engine compartment, my carpeting is wet and there was about two inches of water inside at one point. Anything I should worry about? It runs good with no noticeable problem but the carpeting is really wet, any ideas other than the heatfan?

Get it dry ASAP!! It will really start to stink soon.

Open all the doors and windows, take the seats out, remove the plastic parts holding the carpet down and fold everything back so you can dry underneath. You need heat and air movement pronto.
You probably have plenty of water still in there.

Pull out the seats and let it sit out in the sun for a while. Lift up the carpets and wipe up any remaining water, spread baking soda or carpet fresh with to absorb any excess moisture and prevent odor. If you don't get rid of the odor and wetness early, you probably never will.

Silly question, how do you take the seats out, so far I've been keeping it running with the heat on and two fans running under the seats all day. Rear is reasonably dry, front still little wet. So far no smell of dumpness but that might be coming. Once I can get the seats out I'll take the carpeting out.

Silly question, how do you take the seats out,

For the front seats, remove the plastic covers that conceal the four bolts, unscrew the four bolts by turning them counter-clockwise with a socket, lift the seats out using your arms. Easy!
The rear seats are even easier, less bolts.

easy enough, thanks a lot, I'll give it a try. It has been raining for the past few days here so its been hard to dry it in the sun, I'm really hoping for some sun soon.

if u dont mind getting it a little dirty... put some kitty litter on the carpet... just to dry it all up and soak in the water... do u ahve a shopvac? use that 1st then/or a vacume to suck up the klitty litter

LOL. I didn't think the Fox ran all the way down there to Arlington Heights, here in Fox River Grove its flooding everywhere, I'll show you down the street and that just a creek! the river is even worse! and up here its boatable (not currently) so its pretty bad.

Thanks sucks though man, where did you have to cross it and how deep was it?
