Flooded Engine

Is there any way to drop the oil pan to get a visual? If not, you have to pull it anyway. Take it out, flip it over and see whats going on. I'm thinking you have a bent rod. What about rebuilding the engine you already have?

The only reason you'd need a new motor is if the block cracked. I'll say what I said in the other thread too, get the thing out of your truck and on a stand so you can tear it down and see what happened. It's probably repairable/rebuildable, and you'll save a ton of money and have a brand new engine when you're done. If the block IS damaged, then hie thee to the junkyard and get a new block for a couple hundred bucks, then rebuild that.

Replacing your motor with a used block of unknown provenance is sketchy and asking for trouble. Those JDM motors are a deal for folks who don't have the space or tools or time to fix their own junk and can't afford to pay a mechanic to rebuild. You don't seem to fit that description, so don't be scared of the wrenches.

Seems like the general word here is to diagnose your problem before you fix it. Throwing money on a new engine at this point doesn't make sense.

Hey for what its worth I've bought a couple of Japanese spec motors for Hondas and they have all worked out great. After so many miles it costs more in taxes than its worth to keep the car so the car is scrapped and a new one is bought. I would buy one over a junk yard motor because if you get it from a reputable company they will warranty it for a short time.

Time is of essence. Assuming that it was not a salt water flood.

Remove the sparkplugs.

Turn engine over to dry cylinders out.

If there is no lock up or mechanical grinding noise. All is good.

Change oil.

Install new plugs and use plenty of Wd40 On the spark plug boots and coil packs.

Start it up.

If you have no fire or fuel, you will need to remove the ECU, flush it with distilled water, dry and re-install. Try again.

I know about flooding 4runners...
