Floor jack recommendations?

So my father had an accident when his floor jack failed. This resulted in a hair line fractured finger, which required some stitches. The floor jack was a cheap aluminum POS from Harbor Freight and Tools. Since his birthday is this weekend, I thought it would be nice to buy him a new floor jack.

Can anyone recommend a good quality 3 ton floor jack?

I always believe in the saying "You get what you paid for". And since clearly this will be a safety issue for your family, you are right on in considering a "good quality floor jack". Try Snap-on or Sears (Craftsman) and i believe they have the set that comes with Jack Stands. You have to give your old man a pair of Jack Stands if you're giving him a Floor Jack.

I got a Craftsman 3ton "Suv" (aka-Higher lift) and (2) 3ton jackstands on sale for $100. The freakin jack around weighs about 90lbs at least! Talk about burly---get this set! The best investment I have made in my tool-purchasing lifetime.
