Gun Free, Victim Rich, Criminal Safe, Designated Hunting Zone. Tragic.

As a members of a group of firearms instructors, we work with teenagers and adults, some of whom are teachers and other school personnel, on a regular basis. We also talk about the need for identifying and helping those who appear to need counseling, remediation and/or institutionalization in order to protect them and protect society from them. Before IT, I was a teacher and coach. After I retired, I taught in and volunteered in secure treatment facilities for juveniles.

We have school personnel taking our classes for many reasons. Some of them just want to be more familiar with the safe handling of different firearms. Others continue their training out of a desire to improve their skills. A few who continue their training indicated they might decide to carry concealed at work even though it may be illegal. The discussion was that they would rather have the choice, and means, to proactively stop the threat quickly when there is an immediate threat to the lives of the children they were responsible for than have to put their trust in being able to successfully run/hide.

Really sad thing about that one was the fact that people made a TON of money off that tragic event. Capitalistic GREED ran rampant. Could not get .22 ammo for a year and prices went way up.
Any thing AR15/AK47 related and ammo... prices went up.

Read the federalist papers. Read the writings of the folks who wrote the BOR. read the constitution. It's all there my friend.

Everyone is the militia. Any person who can, is responsible for defending the nation from enemies foreign and domestic.

This always gets brought up. It's clearly defined and has been for hundreds of years. Do the research.

Brother, I wasn’t asking because I don’t know what those documents say. I was a poli sci major and had classes that discussed this in great detail. I’m asking you what you think the ‘regulated’ means.

What you’re talking about was the founding fathers trying to get away with not having to keep up a government armed force. 1 because of the stigma of a potentially oppressive force. But also because the nation was literally just formed, militaries are expensive, communication and control was abysmal and difficult. It’s easier to ask for citizens to be ready to call up in ‘a time of danger’.

Times have changed my friend. I can appreciate the words in the document as black and white, but you need to appreciate that things are not what they were 230 years ago. People latch on to this argument as a way to keep their badass weapons. When I think of the ‘well regulated militia’ I think of the clowns who got dressed up in their tacticool gear outside of military recruiting offices to ‘protect’ recruiters, and ended up ND’ing into nearby businesses and the idiot who shot up a pizza shop with his AR-15 because they read an article that Hillary Clinton child prostitution ring there.

Don’t get me wrong, I can also empathize with the oppressive government. I’m equally, if not more, disturbed by the militarization of the police. ****ing cops with MRAPs and drones that can detonate a charge to kill people. W. T. F. But there’s *******s out there too that go killing cops and kids with 30rd magazines.

I’m all about calling out hypocrisy on both sides. I think Trump and a lot of posters in here are dead on that a lot of warning signs were missed here. But, Sen Cruz and Rubio both immediately came out decrying the politicization of this tradgedy, but the other side is just as quick to politicize an illegal immigrant killing someone, or some ******* that drove his ****ing can into a crowd of people. You can’t have it both ways. If not now, then when can we have the discussion? Bump stocks were talked about 15mins after the Vegas shooting and actually had bipartisan support. Where the hell is that now? Oh yeah, nowhere.

This generation of kids is a bunch of softies. We used to handle business with bare knuckles and now, they are afraid to be without their emotional support hamsters and binkies. Society has grown a generation of people afraid to handle adversity before it becomes a tragedy.

And since it's the truth, no amount of gun control would have prevented this. He was under the age legally able to buy or own that rifle. So he either stole it from someone or obtained it in some sort of manner inconsistent with current law. Whomever purchased that rifle should be an indirect accomplice because they failed to prevent this. And his parents should be hauled in too! SOMEONE knew this kid was a loose cannon before this happened.

Look at the data. Gun restrictions do nothing to curb violence and nothing to stop these types of shootings.

forgive my level headedness here but if he was a white supremacist or following ISIS he was still a very confused very sick individual. there are dozens of cults, extremist organizations, whatever to attract people who are already sliding down. I doubt very seriously the victims of the families appreciate the difference between one or the other while they are preparing to bury their loved one. grow up!
