Florida School Shooting

Routine handgun injuries leave entry and exit wounds and linear tracks through the victim's body that are roughly the size of the bullet. If the bullet does not directly hit something crucial like the heart or the aorta, and they do not bleed to death before being transported to our care at a trauma center, chances are, the victim can be saved. The injury along the path of the bullet from an AR-15 is vastly different from a low-velocity handgun injury. The bullet from an AR-15 passes through the body like a cigarette boat travelling at maximum speed through a tiny canal. The tissue next to the bullet is elastic—moving away from the bullet like waves of water displaced by the boat—and then returns and settles back. This process is called cavitation; it leaves the displaced tissue damaged or killed. The high-velocity bullet causes a swath of tissue damage that extends several inches from its path. It does not have to actually hit an artery to damage it and cause catastrophic bleeding. Exit wounds can be the size of an orange.

With an AR-15, the shooter does not have to be particularly accurate. The victim does not have to be unlucky. If a victim takes a direct hit to the liver from an AR-15, the damage is far graver than that of a simple handgun shot injury. Handgun injuries to the liver are generally survivable unless the bullet hits the main blood supply to the liver. An AR-15 bullet wound to the middle of the liver would cause so much bleeding that the patient would likely never make it to a trauma center to receive care.

The 10 round magazine limit was tried in the Clinton era. It didn't change a thing. And again the only people that would have only 10 rounds would be the law abiding citizens.
It only stopped new manufacture, it did nothing to regulate them, you could still buy high capacity magazines throughout the AWB because they increased production before.

Also, the high capacity magazine ban was a recommendation by a gun manufacturer

Get used to it, he will be around for another 7 years.

Thats it? Just get used it? Not an argument in his defense? Just "I agree and am ok with the fact he is a disgrace, and isn't very smart, and is full of shit, and he lies with every other word but I'm cool with that so you need to be to"...

I think its unfortunate that you ask so very little of your political candidates.

A ban on 10+ round mags would just not work this day in age.

Open source click, print, you now have 30 round magazines.

America is sick of the political elite getting rich off of our taxes, its just that simple, The Donald is draining the swamp.

LOL! Worry about things you can control.

So how in the heck could they have removed the High cap mags that were manufactured before the ban? Impossible!

And you could only buy the high cap mags on the used market because the high cap mags were manufactured before the ban. Again there is no way to successfully retroactively ban high cap mags without invading every household in the country. Think that would cause issues? LOL. Enforce the laws on the books. Fix the issues with reporting mental health issues, background checks, etc.

And who cares who recommended it, it was law and it did nothing but keep law abiding citizens from having more than 10 rounds on a new gun. It was again, ignorant regulation

Please tell me you understand that you can be found criminally responsible for these violations and serve time in prison for them.
As the second amendment is clearly not unlimited, and no one here actually believes it is, their argument trying to compare it to the 1st amendment is pretty pointless because they don't actually believe that the 2nd amendment is unlimited

Stop letting them be sold, stop letting them be possessed, the amount of high capacity magazines will definitely be reduced.

Or, conversely, if a law is only good when it single handedly us 100% effective then we shouldn't have any laws and I don't think you actually believe that

Why do I get the feeling that if you used an M1-A instead of an AR-15 the Media hype would be half what it is with the ''popular'' Rifle? Would .308 be any ''kinder and gentler''?......Symbolism and recognition are everything to the opportunistic media. Given what we know now since Wikileaks and others have shown the FBI and other agencies right down to your local yokel Sheriff feel justified in breaking the Constitution at whim if they think it is needed, WHY would you want them to have more firepower than a law-abiding Citizen? This latest event and the facts coming to light don't give Me confidence in arming Cops with ever greater weaponry. 4 cops hid from a 19 year old Dufus and waited while He executed them. There will be a special place in Hell for them I'm sure....

And again what good is having the amount of high capacity magazines reduced going to do??? NOTHING! All it means is another couple of mag changes...you will still have evil people committing evil acts.

The only people that will follow a reduced capacity magazine law will be law abiding citizens. The criminals and maniacs will not and do not follow laws. Gun legislation is stupid and does nothing to fix the issues.

it's time to get cops out of schools so we can stop the school to prison pipeline

here is some good information about SROs that shows that students in schools with SROs are more likely to be arrested for low-level offences:

You're right.

it seems to me no one is talking to one another on this post to move a conversation forward. there is no civil discourse in the public square. it appears to me that you folks are just yelling talking points without breaking down or parsing each others statements. this thing is all over the place...:lookout:

I've tried, I even listed out gun control measures that I want as a gun owner and keep asking for others to do the same

Gun control is constitutional, it doesn't violate the 2nd amendment, so what gun control is reasonable?
