Florida wheeling?

Anyone near Lake City/Gainesville area? Haven't been wheeling in forever, would like to take a short ride with some other 4Runners or Toyotas, or maybe just a camping trip... the Osceola forest is near me, just haven't tried anything more than maintained roads since I'm solo. Have a stock '11 Limited so nothing too crazy.

I live down in St Pete! I just got my 04 Limited recently and been looking for more places to ride around other than the random places I find exploring around Lakeland when hanging out with my gf. I'll be out of town until the 5th, but if you're free after that, we should make a plan!

My bad I totally haven't been back on to see this reply lol. I'm not super familiar with the areas around here but we have a national forest (Osceola) that has a lot of trails and such, and I know the Ocala NF is supposed to be pretty good, too

I’m also located in St. Pete.

I usually find myself going up to the Ocala National Forest when I’m craving a weekend in the woods. There are plenty of opportunities for dirt track driving and dispersed camping up there.

I also go down to Big Cypress quite often. There’s a lot of trail riding down there.

Im down in Sarasota. I've only done Citrus once with a buddy, but it was a blast. I also did Destin a while back too, but that would be a huge haul for me from here.

I've been in Tampa for going on 3 years now. Here are a list of places to consider:

-Ocala National Forrest
-Citrus WMA
-Croom
-HardRock Park

None of these places are super challenging or technical. They are 90% dirt/sand roads, and no rock. It's definitely nice to get off the pavement, but trails in this part of Florida/FL in general sucks. Hardrock is +2hrs from me and it's $30 to ride (not worth it). Citrus has trail 14 and 19 that are somewhat fun, but it's free and better than anything else in FL that i've been to. Tinnis Hill at Citrus is a nice campground.

There are plenty of public land WMA areas you can go lose service and ride around for a bit to get off the concrete. Hope this helps.

Fort Walton Beach.
Some state/national forest towards Panama City have dirt roads and some camping spots.
Black River near Crestview has more off-road trails and “remote” camping.

I'm in Jacksonville if you ever want to ride. There's Cary State Forest not too far from Lake City.

Check out the First Coast Toyotas facebook group. It's pretty active with people looking to ride/group rides every so often.

I’m heading to Ocala national forest with the family Friday morning and staying for the weekend. Going to do some off roading in my 2wd. Hoping my buddy with a 4x4 jeep heads up with us. Anyone with good info of the trails please let me know what to avoid in my 2wd if I end up solo.

Exploring Pt Washington State Forest today and I ran into this pet graveyard.

No worries, I was in the same boat lol. And thats all Ive heard about in this area lol.

I saw something about Crestview and Black Water River, and know that near Milton in the Black Water River Forest area, theres a lot of dirt roads that can get rough, with some areas to test some capabilities of your 4R

Where at? Im north of Gandy on 4th. And would you be down to go wheelin sometime? It would be nice to find areas more local than Pensacola lol

I live in Lake City and used to explore Osceola in my JK. I'm in a TRDOR now but haven't been out there in a year or so. The trails that wont scratch up your truck are mild. The best stuff is usually very tight or flooded half the year.

Ranch-O

Heard of a great spot in Zephyrhills, Ranch-O park is what a couple co-workers have it go by. From pictures looks like a real fun spot with tons of land to have fun.

Same for me, I will be moving to Destin Fl for work for 3 years (whenever things get back to normal). Hoping I can take my 4runner in the woods near Destin, since I drive the work truck 6 days a week.

Any thoughts about places near Destin to just get outdoors (ie trails, hiking, hunting etc)?

I have not heard of that area, is it free, even open?

I've been spending my time at Citrus and Ocala these past months now
