[?] Flowmaster 40 or 50 series?

I have the money put back to upgrade my stock SR5 V6's exhaust system :bigok:

I looked on YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. for audio clips of 40/50 series exhaust sounds by flowermaster & I kinda came up WTF are they doing type of videos. I would like to get some feedback on what exhaust system would have the deepest tone & a rumble sound to it with hardly ant rasp at speeds of 60MPH & up. I would also like to be able to hear the tone of the exhaust inside of the car with all the windows up as well. I hope to gain some power as well as more mileage when driving good ;)

I am thinking about doing dual exhaust vs. single for personal eye candy reasons.

Feedback is highly welcome. Also needs to be California legal. Saying that if anyone knows of good shops in the Sacramento area please share them as wel :naughty:

I do like the way this 4Runner had his exhaust set up & the sound is nice also

I have a K&N Intake system with heat shield installed looks like this one.

Do yourself a favor and get the flowmaster 50 series suv or a magnaflow 18". They have very little drone and sound really good. The flowmaster 40 will drone really bad around 55-70 and it gets annoying quick. Also do not dump it, my exhaust is dumped and sounds great but I hate it on the freeway lol

im lookin at a new exhaust sys as well, pardon me, but what is "dump" referring to here?

I have a magnaflow xl and love it. It's loud as hell, and its 3 chambered. I can only imagine that the cruising drone on a 40 series would be appaling. If you insist on a flowmaster, get the 50 series. Also duals is a great idea. Grab a y pipe and do work. Looks awesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys but "dump" might be refering to a turn down instead of the exhaust pipe going all the way to the rear.

I get a lot more interior noise with my magnaflow with turn downs, right before the axle.

I like the look of no exhaust pipe. Goes great with no running boards too, hahaha!

Dumping is having the muffler end the exhuast. No tailpipe. It's stupid on our runners which love a little back pressure.

Thank you for all the great info so far I am looking into getting the Flowmaster flowmaster 50 series with dual exhaust & chrome tailpipe tips. I also plan on exploring my options on getting a upgraded catalytic converter for better flow & also better gas mileage as they say (When driving slow).

What are some of the 50 state legal well more like California legal catalytic converters that I could buy?

Has anyone installed a upgradded catalytic converter on there T4R?

I what about these any ideas? http://www.jcwhitney.com/catalytic-...2001/c10821d2166y2001j1s23.jcwx?filterid=z200

Also I plan on doing a Hig Def video recording with better sound then what is listed on YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. :pimp:

I should have my mind up with in the next 2 weeks or less. I am just looking to get what is best & right for my T4R. :fro:

I wouldnt waste much time on an upgraded cat if you live in California, I doubt it'll do much more than stock. If you do, look into magnaflow cats.
If you want serious performance, get headers, then a cat.

When I upgraded my cat back in 2005 on my 1991 Pickup I noticed slight gain & the throttle responses was better. 1991 Toyota 4cyl Pickup 6inch lift on 35's with the K&N intake filter cone, Flowmaster exhaust system & LC Engineering header. I miss that truck. I lost her to the mountain wheeling and showing off for the ladies to much

The only after market cat I have seen that is California legal for 99-02 4runners is the LC Engineering cat. Here is a link to it

Thx for the link ;) I use to have a header from them on my 1991 Pickup I forgot about this company I should of looked  why I did not.

im not much of a fan of flowmasters on v6's i do like the sound of a 18'' magnaflow

I will be looking into this thank you.

Does this offer the same gains as Flowmaster 40 & 50 series?

It a 3-chambered design (Like the 50 series) with the "glass pack" that magnaflow is famous for. So yes, I'd assume its as free flowing as the flowmaster. I bought a 14" one and it sounds good, just way too loud at 2k rpm, thats why I would recommend the 18" one to eliminate that cabin drone at cruising speeds.

As I have heard, any aftermarket cat is now illegal in CA. Have to get a direct replacement from Toyota if yours goes bad. Otherwise you stick with what you got.

Can you post up a YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. video of what your sounds like from the start up & also do small revs for me please. I would like to hear how this sounds.

Does anyone have the parts number or know which 50 series to order? I've heard the 50 series is best for high way travel (which I do once a month or more to travel home for 5 hours) but which 50 series is it. Is it the delta, the HD, etc? (I know it can't be the big block 50 with the v6).

If anyone has the P/N or know which one PM me or just reply, thanks

I'm not sure of the part number but you need a center in/ offset out. The exhaust pipe is about 2.25" but a welder can work with a 2.5" if needed.

I have the Flowmaster Super 50 Series Delta Flow muffler on my v6 4runner. offset in/ center out, 2.25". Part # 942451. It is the 3rd muffler I tried after stock before I was pleased. it rumbles nice at idle and actually quiets down the higher your rpms, to a point. This is in addition to a high flow cat, which will make your exhaust significantly louder all on it's own. I bought a "monster-flow" cat off eBay for $62. muffler was $97 on ebay.
I would certainly recommend this setup.
