Flowmaster 40 Series vs. 50 Series

I will be getting a true dual exhaust (pipe splits behind the cat and has two mufflers) in the next week or so. I had my mind set on the 50 series, but I found out its $40 more per muffler and the guy at the shop told me the last one he put on he ended up swapping out for the 40 because the customer thought it was too quiet.

If you have had any experience with these mufflers please let me know what you thought of them.

What I am looking for is something that has a nice idle and is reasonably loud when I get on it. I do not want an annoying drone noise that is rediculasly loud between 2-3k when I'm driving down the freeway. I'm 21 and not a grandpa, so I'm not opposed to loud exhausts, I just want it to be good sounding and loud at the proper times. I listen to my music fairly loud, so if the music can cover up and annoying noise I am happy with that. I have a 2006 4.0L v6.

Based on that information if you have any info that is relevant to this decision please let me know. I was quoted at $570 for the 40's and $660 for the 50's. I am open to other muffler suggestions as long as they are within the price rang of the 50's. Thanks.

I will definitly post some pics when its done. After reading more I am now leaning towards a magnaflow or maybe a borla or gibson. I like the magnaflows because of their straight thru design and quality construction. Can anyone comment on the sound of any of these. I have decided I dont want a really loud exhaust that sounds like a muscle car. I want something that will make it sound like a truck, while keeping a smooth deep sound. Again I want it to be noticable when idling and accelerating, but mellow at cruising speeds. No ricer fart can noise. I really need some input becuase its alot of money, and I dont want to base it off amature sound clips. Any input is much appreciated.

I have a flowmaster 40 series on my 1999 3.4L and it sounds good when i jump on the throttle and isnt too bad on the highway. I think the wind noise with the fact that the truck leaves a lot of noise behind at those speeds keeps it fairly quiet. I notice a drone when going uphill at like 25-30 mph. I'm thinking of switching to a magnaflow as well but am not sure because it has less of a rumble to it due to its straight through design as opposed to the baffles. The flowmaster should give you more low end power and the magnaflow will be better up high.
I honestly couldn't tell you which one id prefer but i know that the drone will be smaller with your larger 4.0L engine.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I have listened to pretty much every exhaust clip from the v6 engine on youtube. I just couldnt base my decision on those because there is no way to get an accurate sound. I have decided to go with something completely different. I was originally told the only way to gain performance was to go with a true dual system (2 seperate mufflers) but I talked to someone who knew much more on the subjuct and advised me that true duals are only good for much larger engines. With the 4.0l I would not have enough back pressure and I would lose horse power and not get a good sound out of it. So I decided to get a signle in dual out magnaflow 20" overall. Ordered the muffler from magnaflowdirect.com for $70, ($150 everywhere else). It should be here my the end of the week I will post some pics when its done. Thanks for the help.
 
I have the same engine. Let me know how the exhaust turns out b/c I'm looking into getting one as well.
