Any fly fishermen out there? I am curious what solutions you have made or bought to carry your rod inside you 4runner without breaking it down? (So you can drive from one spot to another without having to re-rig the rod) I have put on my xmass list the RodLoft Pro. Do you have it or have used it? What do you think? The passenger rear seat is a 60/40. Maybe you can just tilt down the 40 side and fit your rod through the opening (not trying to sound nasty, but it just sounds that way...) Maybe uh hold down your rod with some velcro strips... lol, can't help it sorry.

This thread discusses the installation of a Toyota Japan sourced separation screen. The bars form the base of the system and the rod holder attaches to the bars. Warning, its expensive.

What about fabricating something that goes in your roof rack? Like a large PVC tube that can hold your fishing rods? Not sure how feasible or cost effective that would be...

Well, the idea is to keep the rod rigged up, so one could move from location to location without having to put the line through the guides and put on another fly. This is particularly useful for the sadistic season of steelhead fishing, where you need to cover a lot of water to find the pods of fish that are migrating up river and streams. Time is always a factor during the short days.
