FM Radio interment issue 2016 TRD Pro

Not sure how many people listen to FM, but I've been experiencing an issue where the FM radio is interment. Been to the dealer, they can't reproduce it. Dealer pulled radio, checked connections. I've provided said videos below to service department, and supposedly shared with Toyota.. TAC says they have zero reports of this issue.

Anyone else that can reproduce this?

I really believe this is a headunit issue. My '14 Limited had no issues.

Well, it's pretty obvious there's a problem. Maybe a bad antenna wire or connection but either way a warranty fix. In the second video, looks like the station you're tuned to doesn't match the selection you made on the left...am I seeing things?

EDIT: Nevermind, same thing in the 3rd video so you must've tuned away from the selection on the left. Do you have any issues with XM or bluetooth or any of the other inputs?

This would be my first guess. Assume it's ANY FM station?

If no, it does point to the antenna. What about AM? If yes, still points to the ant.

Regardless, you have documented the failure. Guess you need to get more forceful, or just wait 'til it fails completely.
 
Any FM station, not specific. However sometimes it impacts one station and not another. Not specific to a given road or town. No issues with Bluetooth. Not an XM subscriber. Been going on a long time. When the station is working, it receives from a long ways away. No issues with station reception distance.

You are right doesn't match, just seeking between stations, not using presets.

Dealer left me VM, have to give them a call back. Last test was to delete all phones from the head unit and see if it still happens (does).
 
I've had my whole head unit go out several times, listening to XM usually. Dealer is supposed to replaced my head unit.
 
It may be obvious, but it's not an HD station is it? My HD stations drop like its cool; it's not though.

Took me a hot minute to figure out why my radio was quiet, then randomly loud with the subwoofer pounding, back to quiet... it was HD going in and out. I'm planning to see if I can disable it, I think I'm too far in the country for quality HD signal. My first HD Radio though, so I have no reference.
 
I actually wonder if it's an issue with the ability of the radio to cache listening. Have you looked into those settings? Could be bad memory that it's trying to cache to.

Otherwise I'd say it sounds like a bad receiver. Almost sounds like squelch is set too high so that you only get sound with enough signal strength.

Resurrecting this thread to post a some new findings on Entune and the USB drive....I have not reached my post count to start a new thread.

My entune had the "random reboot" issue where it would just restart randomly. Two weeks ago I had the dealer update the head unit software (2014 CPO and there is a TSB on Entune issues) but the update didn't fix the issue. I started playing around with settings and such, removing paired devices and such to no avail. One day I noticed that I had a Sandisk curizer fit plugged into the USB drive. Removed it and the issue was fixed, not one reboot since I removed it.

While radio interference could have been the culprit for your issue, I think there are some serious flaws regarding the USB device on Entune systems. If folks are having issues and you have a device plugged into the USB drive I highly recommend removing that first before moving on.
