FM reception\ antenna plugs on AVN 5510 question.

I just recently install AVN 5510 in my 4Runner. I love the unit, everything works great, but one thing I have noticed that FM reception appears to be not as good as on the stock radio I had before.
When installing it, I have also noticed that stock radio had what looks like two antenna plugs and AVN had only one plug available. Here is a picture of the stock radio and I circled the smaller plug that AVN did not have… so I am wondering maybe I need that second connection to get better reception…
Anyone come across this with AVN units?
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you very much for the link! It was very informative.
After reading all info I will start by connecting Antenna power wire from AVN to pin 8 on 4Runner radio 10 pin plug which appears to be an Antenna Amplifier pin. I think it should resolve 90 % of the reception issue. I will post the results.

Just want to give an update. As per my previous post, I have connected Antenna power wire from AVN to pin 8 on 4Runner radio 10 pin plug (4Runner Antenna Amplifier pin). That has improved radio reception dramatically. I do not believe it 100% as it was with stock radio, but is almost there. If I have time, I may try purchasing antennas adapters so I can connect two Antennas plugs into one on AVN. I will post an update if I do that.

Are you referring to AVN as your head unit?

What color is the wire to the powered stock antenna?

Do you have the stock JBL unit hooked up?

UPDATE/SOLUTION THAT WORKS

So I took my deck out and looked at the little plug that was bound with the little antenna and the standard sized one.

I thought about cutting the white clip off that snaps into the stock deck, but I didn't. Instead I used a wire connector that has the end the shape of a "U"- the type that fits under a screw.

I wedged it inside (one side) the clip and taped the exposed, other side of the "U".

The white clipped wire connects to either the embedded FM antenna in the window or the antenna amp.

Anyway after doing the above, I increased my FM reception to 98% clarity.

Yes, AVN is Eclipse AVN 5510 unit that replaced my stock non JBL Toyota radio.
In the non JBL 4Runner power antenna wire is on pin 8 of 10 pin 4Runner plug, I do not remember exactly but I believe it is a blue color.

Another Update: I have purchased and install METRA Ltd 40-UV43 Motorola Antenna Y-adapter and Metra 40-GM12 GM Antenna Adapter. I got very slight reception improvement on the top of connection power antenna wire (see above). So at this point I would say I have about 90-95% of stock unit reception.
