FNG with some questions...

Hi All,
I just bought a 93 4runner 4x4 for $250 from one of my sons friends. Actually he owed me $600 for a phone bill so I really have $850 in it. (he could never pay me so take it where I can get it right).
I was told it needed head gaskets and it has been parked for a few years.
I changed the oil, threw a battery in it and it would not turn over. So I threw a new starter in it and she "tried" to start.
Put some gas down her throat and she fired right up and died.
Next I drained the old gas out and put in fresh. I pulled the fuel filter it blew threw fine. I turned it over and no fuel flow!!!

Now for the question, Do I have to pull the tank to get to the fuel pump?
I read every post I could and one said it can be accessed from under the rear seat. I looked for a half hour trying to figure out how the rear seat comes out? It looks like it has finges and I felt the handle to the jack under there but I could not find a release?
Does the rear seat bottom lift up? If so how, or do I need to drop the tank.
What is the best way to check the fuel pump?
Can I jump a 12v to it and see if it works?

I beleive from what I read i have a 3vze V6 known for blowing head gaskets. What is the difference between the 3vze and the 22r?
I also notice it looks like new gasket sealer where the water hose goes into the engine.
Othere then that it looks like no other wrench march on any bolts...

Please help.....

There's supposed to be a fabric 'strap' that would be in the middle of each rear seat in the crease where the seat meets the backrest, often times it will be squished down in there, but you pull on it to unlock the seat.

The 3VZE is the V6 engine, the 22R is the inline 4 Cyl.

I can't give you much more info on your other questions, as I don't know anything about that engine.

Good luck!

I KNOW THIS SOUNDS SILLY.....CHECK THE SEAL ON THE GAS CAP
I HAD SAME TROUBLE AND WAS SHOCKED HOW A LITTLE RUBBER GASKET COULD KEEP THE ENGINE FROM TURNING OVER.THE ACESS PANEL TO FUEL PUMP/TOP OF FUEL TANK IS LOCATED UNDER REAR PASSENGER SEAT.THAT PANEL IF NOT RUSTED WHEN REMOVED YOU CAN INSPECT TOP OF PUMP...I COULD NOT REMOVE PUMP THAT WAY ...NOT ENOUGH ROOM ..SO I TOOK TANK DOWN ,HAD IT BOILED OUT ....STARTED FRESH .CAUTION I NEEDED TO TAKE OUT DRIVE SHAFT TO REMOVE TANK MARJK THE SHAFT WITH PAINT AS NOT TO THROW OFF THE BALANCE. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
