Foam cut-outs in my rear storage compartment

Hey guys. I got tired of hearing my things rattling around in my rear storage, so I decided to do something about it. I bought a couple foam floor panels, for kids' play areas, at Lowes.

They had different colors in one pack, which was about the only option I had. So I decided to use this lame light red color as practice, then I was going to do the real-deal in green. Well, the red didn't turn out so bad, so I just decided to use it. I was going to use the green as it is easy to see what is in there with the green as the back ground. But it's also almost as easy with the red. There was a yellow in the pack, but I think that would start looking dirty pretty fast.

I may use the green for the center console storage compartment. Not sure yet. I don't need to do the other side rear storage, as all I have in there are my cargo nets.

That is pretty darn ingenious! I've been contemplating gluing some rubber padding (like computer mouse pads) into the center console and door drink holder areas because the rattling drives me crazy.

I frequently use 2in wide sticky back velcro (The fuzzy side) for that purpose if the area is small... quick and easy. For something larger though.... I wish they has sticky backed rubber padding (like a thin mousepad) at the local home store though, I'd have tons of uses for that

This is a great idea. To quiet the crap I have in those compartments, I wrapped them in terry clothes. This is tons better.

Thanks guys! I ended up using two layers of the foam to get the desired depth. And they come in pretty big squares, so you have plenty to work with. I didn't have to use any kind of adhesive either. I just made it slightly oversized, so it is snug. It doesn't move! :bigok:
