fog light retrofit (Finally Done!!) pics on page 2

For a while now I had been trying to find an aftermarket solution to the fog lights that retained the circular design of the oem one with little success. As of lately though I found these for a jeep that are 4 inches in diameter and even have the 9006 plug that the oem fog lights have. I have gone ahead and ordered them and plan to begin the retrofit process this weekend.

My goals with this project are as follows:

retain an oem finish
retain oem fog light mounting points
keep the 9006 connector.

My plan is to take out the oem fog lights and cut a circular hole in the lens so that these will sit flush and point forward. Once I have the hole cut I plan to use an epoxy to create a slot that the new lights can fit in and finally do finishing work to the oem fog light housing to make it look like a trim piece for the new light. I will update this thread this weekend when I begin work on the project

these look like it might work on the 2005 and up tacoma, the only problem i see is that there will not be any vertical restraint to hold in place when aiming. i mean it might clip in on the sides, but when you start the height adjustment, how will it stay in place? might want to try the knock off toyota replacement fogs that they put on the 5th gen, some camry and corolla and sienna use the same fog housing.

My plan with these was to take apart the oem fog lights and first cut a proper sized hole in the lens. Then Use fiberglass to create a level surface for these to mount to (to keep the new lights flush with the old ones). Then I was planning on using threaded bolt inserts in the fiberglass so that these can be disassembled if needed. As far as adjustments go, I was going to cut out the backside of the oem fog lights on the side opposite to the oem adjustments.

Right now I am just trying to get all the supplies I need but will have more details once they come in. Fingers crossed this works the way I am planning it to.

Lights came in!

The lights came in today along with a few of the other supplies I need to make this happen. I tested them and they work great! I must say they do look good

Dude. So freaking awesome. Kinda crazy, I had the exact same idea and ordered these off Amazon. I plan to install them tomorrow. How much did you pay for yours? Mine are probably all cheap and I don't even know it for $40 haha

I did that before and they’re a little blinding and the light output is spread all over the place. They don’t necessarily give out that nice clean cut for LED bulbs, they’re just bright. Once the OP posts pics of how they turned out for him, you’ll see. Trust me.

The long anticipated outcome

After a lot of fiberglass, drilling, sanding, painting and test fitting, they are finally complete. The pictures don't do it justice at all but it looks amazing
