Fog lights as DRL?

I haven't looked into this b/c my truck is in the shop getting a new timing belt, so this is just an idea at this point.

I have a 2001 SR5 without fog lights. But if I'm remembering correctly, the wiring harness is there. I basically want to add fog lights and use them as DRL's. I am wondering if you guys think it would be possible to:

A) Add OEM fog lights to an SR5

and

B) Disable the DRL's and use the fog lights as DRL's.

I don't think I would need a fog light switch b/c they would be on all the time, so I wouldn't need a new steering wheel stock.

What do you guys think?

i took apart my dome light and wired in some interior light like that! it works great when i open the door, no reason why you couldnt run the wire to the fog lights

Just to follow up on my own thread. I got the fog light kit above and it works great. It came with all the hardware and pretty good instructions. The kit comes with a switch and instructions to tap into some wiring under the steering wheel. Just for reference, to add a steering wheel light switch stalk with a fog light switch the following parts are needed (according to trdparts4u)

82998-12420 x2 - $3.98/each
84724-35020 - $66.28

benormous--- how are you liking the lights?..are they bright are they worth the price?..i got a 02 sport wit the switch already on the sterring wheel and the holes in the front....so if i ordered them just hook them up and i would be fine? i was wondering about the harness that has been hanging there since i got the car about two years ago.. anyone think that i would need to get a new harness cause its been sitting there and might not work from all the rain, snow, salt ect...

I like them a lot. They are pretty bright and fairly white. They make my headlights look yellowish, I might have to get some different headlight bulbs. I paid $120 shipped for my kit. I bid on the ebay item below, but didn't win. I got a 2nd chance offer from the seller and I offered him $120 shipped. The seller agreed and shipped them out the same day.

As far as the wiring, you should be fine. One of my harness plugs was clean and the other hand some dirt in it, I tapped some of it out and sprayed both with WD-40. No problems with wiring so far, but down the line I will probably replace the steering wheel stalk. The kit also comes with the relay, just plug it under the hood. Your install should be super simple if you already have a switch.
