Fog lights on a '96-'98

I want to get some small Hella foglights for my '97, and was wondering if anyone knows the best place to mount them. Most I have seen are mounted to the plastic valance, but I don't know how rigid that would be. Some hung below it, while others sit in the groove where they had originally put the stock fog light option (which would require some Dremel tool cutting to clear the space).

Any recommendations?

Also, when I wire them, should I wire them straight to the battery or is there a good wire to splice into?

Thanks for all the help!

Why don't you just go with the PP front spoiler and hella lights?

Yeah I have thought of doing that. I really like the look of the spoiler, but I don't know how it would work on my SR5 because I don't have the Limited cladding. Have you ever seen one put on a 4Runner with the chrome trim over the wheels like mine?

The only thing I could figure is to have the spoiler black, but I don't know if that would look good.

Actually, the spoiler is only made for sr5's. I had to mod it to fit mine with the cladding. Even on their site, it says, "will not fit limited", but it's no big deal to get it to work.

Definitely paint it WHITE!

Yeah white would probably be my only option. The reason I asked about the limited cladding is because all the ones I have seen have the bumper painted to match their fender trim.

How much did it run you to get it painted? I'm guessing you had someone else do it for you.

One more thing, I'm thinking of replacing my chrome front bumper because of 2 shallow dents in it (they are easily seen because of the reflective nature of chrome). The cheapest I've found an OEM replacement is for $100 on www.partstrain.com . Do you know of any cheaper places to look?

Sorry to jump a little OT here but has anyone ordered anything from this Partstrain.com website? I'm wondering if the components are decent quality or not as I need a rear bumper and power passenger mirror. Also, in looking at the mirror housing, I can't tell if it's primed for painting or black and that's it....anybody know?

Thanks,

I have never ordered from their site, but I am pretty sure that the power mirror isn't painted. The site is a large one, as I have found several sites that offer the same parts from the same location. Somehow partstrain and a few other sites are all the same, just different names (you will notice if you look at the parts/price/format). Notice the similar format on this site:

Discount Auto Parts Catalog

If it were me, I would trust them to order from. That decision is always up to you though.

if you like the look you should get a brush guard. The light hook right on one of the beams. Im gettin PIAA fog lights really soon for mine.

I cost me about $120 to get painted. You will want your paint guy to use a rock guard coating first on it, or it will chip.

Let me know before you get your Piaa's. I may be able to save you money.
