Fog lights with just parking lights on (2006)

i think u mean the drl lights and not the parking lights...

what is the purpose, just for looks?

because both (drl & HEADLIGHTS) have opposite purposes so they r never on together
 
no... he means parking lights, and yes, the purpose would be just for looks

he means that when he turns his lights to just be the parking lights, he wants to be able to turn on his fog lamps, and not have to turn on his headlights to use his fog lamps... if that makes sense to anyone but me....

I'll see how that info compares to the '06.

And yeah, it's MAINLY for looks............but there is that time at dusk that parking lights are just too little, and headlights are just too much...

well it is different for the 06 and i have a problem. mine are wired up so they are independant but i want them to turn off along with the headlights 30 sec after i leave the car. there is no park light or drl relay that im aware of.

i remember a little while ago someone with an 06 posted the way they did it with pictures and all but i cant find it after searching and searching. thanks

My personal opinion - headlights are *never* too much. I don't run them during the day - I think the DRL's are great. But if there's a question about whether or not the headlights should be on, I turn them on. Even if they don't seem to do any good for your vision, they make it a lot easier for other drivers to see you coming.

:iagree: I had several friends tell me that since driving with their headlights on, they've been cut off less. I always notice cars with their headlights on in the rearview even from very far away.

Also, there are many roads that require the use of headlights even during daytime. And some states, like CA, parking light or using foglights without headlights are illegal. I know that it's for looks and I think some cars from the factory do allow parking lights and fogs to be on without the headlights being on. A few years ago, I wanted to have this feature on my cars too, but they didn't have fogs.
 
I would'nt mind if it came that way,but really don't want to mess with it anymore. I did this mod on my last 2 Ford's and my Tahoe was already wired that way , but for me to dig into the wiring and do it to the 4R is not worth my time & effort.

As far as DRL's go I love them , great safety feature would'nt want to be without them

Which lights illuminate for DRL? Are they half powered highbeams or one of the amber lights in the corner of the headlight? Also, could you take a picture of the relay that controls the DRL. I'm wondering if DRLs can be added like the '03-05 by swapping a relay.

The DRL are just the parking lights. a thread on here some where has the fuse position pictured and labeled I believe.
 
The DRL's are just the parking light's but are pretty damn bright and pronounced. As far as a relay pic , I would even know what it look's like to take a pic of it ....lol.

My personal opinion of the lighting on the 06 is that it is excellent ! I like the amber DRL's , the projector's low beam's are great and when you flick the high beam's on it's like holy crap, because the low beam's stay on as well as the high beam's ( never had that on any other vehicle ) I also think the fog's are great on the 06 too.

I agree, the performance of the fogs are pretty good compared to lamps that other cars have that just merely glow and looks cool. At least the 4R's fog can project and light up the foreground.

I'll have to take a look under the hood and get back to you on where that relay is located. It's probably under one of the fuse boxes under the hood.

DRLs are not standard on all models. My 04 has NONE. Thank god. I really dislike them. JMO. I would also like to have the option to have the fogs on with the parking lights.
 
no DRLS on my runner ... but I drive with the headlights on ALL THE TIME. It really helps other vehicles see you coming...
