Folding 2nd Row Seats Flat

I have seen several pictures where the 2nd row of seat folds flat by lifting the bottom of the seats up and placing them forward against the front seats. Then, folding the back of the seats down. I’ve even seen this on the Toyota web site. Are you only able to do this if you don’t have a 3rd row seat? I didn’t want the 3rd row but seems like all 4Runners in this area have them. I cannot figure out how to lift the bottom of the seats up. I have looked all over for the little “loop” that seats usually have in the seat crack and I can’t find one. The dealer told me it’s not possible.

These may help. Doesn't look like the seven seat can do it due to being able to slide forward to accommodate enter and exit of the third row.

I was dead set on the 3rd row until I realized that the load floor is ~6" higher in the 3rd row models than the 2 row non-sliding tray. This is why the 2nd row can fold flat with the 3rd row on 3rd row models. It all sits up on a higher plane. On the 2 row models, there is a slight ramp at the pivot point of the 2nd row seatback but it, overall, has a taller cargo area. The 2 row models with a sliding tray have a fully flat load floor with the back seats flat thanks to the load floor being raised a couple inches in the cargo area versus the non-3rd, non-sliding models.

I am confused, in the video with the 3rd row it shows the second row folded flat. So to bump this......

Notice how the seat bottom on the 2nd row kicks forward on the sliding tray/non-3rd row models. On the 3rd tow models, the seat bottom stays stationary.

The loop you're looking for should be in the middle, in between the top and bottom cushions. Mine was pushed back into the crack when I got it, had to go searching for it.
