ya wanna do a nice detailed write-up on installing the thing?
I got mine, opened up the box and there's a 1 pager with 2 diagrams... opened up the hood of my 4R... and I can't even figure anything from this or that!
The K&N FIPK had a much better installation guide.

if you are not mechanically inclined i suggest a buddy that is to help you out.
its real simple.
remove all vaccum hoses from the stock tube. you might have to note which one was where or use whiteout to mark the vaccum hose to note which one was there just in case you get lost.
remove the air sensor. pretty much the only thing hooked onto the stock tube with wires. you're going to use the same sensor on the volant. note which way it is when you pull it off.
remove stock intake, hold on to 2 bolts that are bolting your stock box down since you're going to re-use them in the lower part of volant intake.
volant should of supplied you with all new clamps and adapter hoses.
bolt the new box down using the 2 bolts you saved from the stock box (obviously taking off the top plate that says volant on it if it's on there,) put the filter inside the box, grab the intake pipe, fish it through the box that you just bolted in, connect the filter to the pipe and tie it securly with a clamp.
there should be an adapter made of silicone that connects the throttle body to the intake pipe, clamp it down, doesn't really matter which side... do it to the other side.
by now you should have installed and secured the box using 2 bolts, the air filter inside the box clamped to the intake pipe which should be connected securely to the throttle body.
replace the vaccum hoses to the correct area onto the volant pipe.
replace the air sensor, making sure it is the correct way otherwise when you start up, the engine will choke and die.
put the weather stripping around the hole where the pipe goes into the box. not sure why they had this... makeshift grommet??
this should take no longer than 1hr. took me 3 since i popped the air sensor in the wrong way and trial and error with the air filter....
you can either choose to pop the cover on or off...
look back at the original message of this thread and tell me how it goes.
ps- might of missed a few steps since its been a while when i installed the intake.

Very Normal. I had the K&N FIPK on my 92 Runner and I got the sound as I do in my '07 V8 with the Volant. (Of course the sound is deeper in the V8. When car is idling, you can't hear it but give it a good amount of gas and it roars.
