This and other JDM options are currently being discussed in another thread. There may be a chance for a GROUP BUY on some of these things.

You can get after market lights like these in any autoparts store: it's mostly focused towards the bling bling types. But my buddy has a pair in purple and he just tapped into the Cigarette lighter for power so they stay on all the time when on, but when off so are the lights.

Lexus has foot-well lights that are bright when the door is open and dim to a barely noticeable level while you're driving - I'd love to see something like that in my 4runner. I have a feeling it would be more of a pain than what it's worth though. Never mind dimming, but installing the lights with a clean factory look might be challenging.

I've had my eye on these for a while:

They're small and could most likely be installed out of site. They're LED so there won't be any dimming, but they seem like they might work pretty well.

I just installed a pair of footwell lights in the Camry. Just run 2 wires to the dome light (need both the power and ground from up there) inside the headliner. Drop it down the pillar, across the floor under the door panel, then behind the footwell trim.

From there, I just found a place on each side to install a light that cost $2 at AutoZone.

I'm trying to figure out how to do the same in the 4Runner -- the sunroof looks like it will get in the way.

I have installed footwell lights in every vehicle I've owned. Do you believe they came standard on my previous 1989 Cherokee!!!! When Chrysler got ahold of Jeep, they took them out. Figures.

Ever since then, I must have them...

Hi Every1,

I bought 10 12V LED lights on ebay....but don't know how to install them...as footwell lights. Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks!

That really isn't a deal cosidering they are charging $65.65 for SHIPPING for that small part!!!

Ouch... didn't look at shipping charges... Probably because they're ordering outside the US and the buyer is taking the hit for shipping and additional profit. :(

Yes. My shipping for these parts would be $15. I still honestly think you'd be better making your own like I did, for about $10.

Carson Toyota has the JDM footwell lights for only $109. Here is the link: http://www.newtoyotaparts.com/product/?id=1200 I'm posting this because I hope that someone will now buy them and tell the rest of us how to wire them. Here is a larger version of the pic that is in the second post:
