For anyone waiting on a 17

Just saw that for SR5 Premiums and TRD Off Road Premium the sunroof is now an option and no longer standard. May or may not be a big deal to anyone.
Also saw that the TRD Off Roads models get "carbon fiber look" center console.
Still not available until January/February.

That's great. I want the trail without the sunroof. I work on boats and I'm in the sun everyday that's a worthless option for me I'll never open it. Now I'm even happier for waiting on 17 instead of getting 16. Thanks.

If the TEP would've be cheaper without the moonroof, i'd be fine with that. I could take that or leave it, stepped up to the premium mostly for the softex and heated seats. I serious doubt they are knocking down the price though.

Faux carbon fiber? You can keep that crap, i've yet to see a car the fake stuff looks good in.

I wish my TEP didn't have the sunroof. We never use it and it's starting to rattle just like my 2008, which we never use either but it rattles just the same. I almost traded my TEP for a TRDP just to get rid of the sunroof.

Y'all realize that as "options", this is still going to be controlled at the Regional level. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to find this option is "standard" in lots of places.

I would travel a significant distance to avoid getting one with a sunroof if I had to.

What kind of rattles? I have a 2016 sr5 premium that started making some popping noises around the front end of the sunroof, very annoying as it is right on top of my head.

Very possible. Gulf States region is definitely getting them with and without sunroofs.

Depends on your market and values after the 1st of the year. $30- $33k is just a guess.

Is this the norm for the T4R to be released so late in the year, (beginning of the model year), or could it be that they are doing some major reconfigurations?

I've read here from many different folks that we can't expect them to create a new generation until 2018, but it does create the curious question to why so late?

Usually the new models are out by October.
No solid info on 2018s.

This Friday I was called by one of my local dealerships and was told that the Earliest I can place my 17 order for TRD PRO is Dec 5,2016 according to Toyota and shipment date would be middle of January 2017 the earliest.

I believe the rattles are from the sun shade. It varies from more of a popping to a squeaking sound. Drives me nuts. I may try to put some thick foam in there to quiet it down. The sunshade was also rattling on my 2008 but some thick foam took care of that.

That's not how it is in NM. However, you don't actually "order" one. It's more of a waiting list as Toyota uses an allocation system. If your dealer stays on top of it, they can snatch one up in the system. Pretty sure you can jump on the waiting list now but you may not see it until well into the new year. I'm on the waiting list for a TRDP Tundra but I don't expect to see it until after the new year either, if I even go through with the deal.

No. It blows my mind that Toyota doesn't allow orders. You might be able to get close to what you want but probably not exactly. I realize why they do it but I still don't like it.

Just put a $500 deposit on a 2017 TRD Pro 4Runner in Cement for $500 off of MSRP. I was told it could be anywhere from 3-8 months before it arrives.

From what I have read over the last couple of years. Toyota Japan makes only so many of each type of 4Runner. They are shipped to 3 US ports, east, gulf and west coasts. Each port gets different options based on location. Canada gets their own shipments and options. I think each boat is three months apart. They are mega boats with many vehicles besides the 4Runner.

Your dealer can view the inventory that is either in port or is arriving on the next shipment. They can select from either of the two. They order what they want to sell beforehand but can grab one if available from the port if it is what you are looking for. Beyond the next shipment they have no idea but can make you "promises".

If you do want a trail premium or a TRD Pro (names have changed) they will make you think it's a magic unicorn and try to make you pay a premium. It depends on how much fight you have in you and if you are willing to just walk on what you will pay.
