For anyone with the bfg all terrain

time for some new tires... right now i have the firestone destination le.. great tires btw but i want to get more rugged tires.. i think ive made my choice down to the bfg all terrains..

if you have them could you tell me what you liek and dislike about them? like how often they need to be rotated to keep a even wear.


i want a tire that is queit, great in the snow and mud and has good wet traction.

also where did you get them.. tirerack wants 200 a tire.

BFG's wet traction is what kept me from ever getting another set since it is just so-so at highway speeds but a great tire off road.

I have had my BFG 265/70/17 All Terrains for about 3 years now. I rotate about every 5k and they are wearing evenly. They are a little noisier than the stock tires but not to bad. I off road a lot in the desert and never had a tire issue in the rocky terrain. I have been in very hard down pours on the road on winding mountain roads and never felt any hydroplaining or other bad issues in the rain. I have heard other poeple say bad things about them in the rain but I do not agree from my experience. I have no mud or snow where I live but if you want a mud tire get the BFG Mud Terrain KM2. I have them on my Jeep and they are almost as quiet as the AT. I got my tires at a small shop where I live.

I rode on a pair for 2 years in my FJ. They were the best tires I've ever had. Not too noisy, good on the dry road, incredible in snow, good enough in the rain (the truck had stability control though which helps out there), and great off-road. I loved them personally. The only time they weren't that great were when I was stopping on ice. But that is the story with any tire!

I drove some for a few years on a Chevy 1500 reg cab short bed and enjoyed them with minimal issues in wet weather. Most of that was driving style since I was younger with a V8 5 speed and a full time locker in the back. I went to Pro Comp A/T and they gave quiet ride and good dry and wet driving on the street but not as good off-road as BFG.

Currently I have the Nitto T/Gs on my runner and rate them somewhere between the Pro Comps and BFG A/T. I would have gone with the BFG's this time but got to good of a deal on the Nitto's to pass up.

BFG's are great tires, Im on my 2nd set on my 4runner, and my 7th set of all the vehicles Ive ever owned. I have had both all terrains and mud terrains, I recommend all terrains if your vehicle is on the street most of the time. I get about 80k out of my all terrains, rotating every 5k.

i think im set on the all terrains...since my 4runner is bone stock maybe a lift down the rode what size would i get?

why not 265/70/17? ur speedo will only be off 2 mph at 60+. & if need be, just move the inner fender liner forward.

I have a 03 4th gen and use 265/70/17 but i am not familiar with 3rd gen sizes. Look around on the 3rd gen forum and see what others recomend.

so i checked out mr tire today and they said the 235-75-13 would fit my 02... just want to check with you guys does that sound like a good fit?

Well since your truck has a 16" rim from the factory a 13 inch tire would not fit. If you are stock with 16" rims I would run either the 265/70/16(31" equiv) stock OEM size, or the 265/75/16(32" equiv) which is a next size up. If you have the 15" rim I would run a 31x10.50x15 or even 31x9.50x15

I have an 01 SR5 and I went with the 265/75 R16 BF Goodrich AT KO. I went all out and did the ones with a 10Ply sidewall. Couldn't be happier. Road noise isn't that bad and they look fierce. I have only had the chance to test them on a few trails.It did give me the chance to learn I needed new suspension! lol
What I have heard and read is they are a excellent overall tire but some have reported not the best wet traction. Understanably because if you look at those with great wet tration they have channels to direct the water out. BF Goodrich AT.... no water channels.

This should be similar if not exactly like yours. No issues with rubbing even at full tilt. I am going with a 3 inch lift and from what I am told the tires won't look bad with it either. I didn't want to throw my spedo off that much and heard the 85's kill the mileage. I am still able to maintain similar mileage even going up a size.

I really doubt you are running a 13in rim but I could be mistaken or maybe you made a mistype. If you are rockin the 5 spokes they are 16in.
