2005 JBL 6-Disc head unit.

This unit is in perfect working condition. I pulled it from my vehicle so I could install a 2006 JBL head unit (I wanted the MP3 capabilites).

Will this fit an 03 that doesn't have the JBL system? Can I use my steering wheel controls with your unit?

I assume it would "fit" ... but I do not think it will work. The JBL headunit feeds to a JBL amplifier. I would assume you would need both the headunit and the amplifier to make this whole thing work (which would then require replacing your speakers too).

Also you probably have the single disc standard head unit. You'd need to replace the trim bezel as well as the piece that has your AC controls. Let's just say it isn't cost effective.

Your best bet would be to upgrade to a SCION headunit. It is a direct plug and play replacement.

No problem. Keep an eye on EBay. I have seen a few pop up on there every now and then. They will usually run you anywhere from $200 to $250.

Was the 2006 JBL 6 disk unit plug and play? Did you have to make any modifications for the installation?

Yes, it was plug and play. The only modfications needed are spacers to bring the unit out a littler further. There are pictures and an explanation in my original post in the audio section of the forum. I think the thread title was something like "2006 JBL in a 2005".

The single CD in my 05 SE V8 is getting old.

I was going to try and find an '06 JBL 6CD HU, but it apparently doesn't do RDS. Bizarre.

And yes --- the 2006 does not have RDS. I replaced my 05 with an 06 and was sad to see this feature gone.
