It's actually pretty flush with the doors. No serious overhang on either side. You can get longer bars if desired but I think these look appropriate and it's the size Thule recommends
 
I'm interested in this rack if you can keep it around for another two weeks. I plan to be in the Va Beach area the week of Oct 3rd.
