For the electricians - 75 and sunny button

Has anybody played with window controls. It has been 75 and sunny all week here in Houston, and I have been plagued with the laborious chore of 6 different buttons to get my full dose of fresh air (yes, this is fully intended to make you northerners pissed). Is there a chart I can follow to set up a new switch that would open all the door windows, rear window, and sunroof with my own personal "75 and sunny" button?

It might seem like a hassle for nothing, but I'm in my 20s and don't have kids... I've got time. :fishing:

It is basically a network of small devices... Very proprietary and nearly impossible to modify and add something that is not factory supported.

Don't worry, nobody is pissed about of you living in H town and enjoying those 5 or 6 days a year where it is nice. They happen, but it is rare. In fact, that button would be more useful in just about any other location I can think of.

Yep. Then it can double as a "105° heat index and oppressive" button when you need to vent it in August.

Why do you think I'm so happy right now? I'm pretty much looking for any excuse to be outside even if it means risking electrocution. I'll be back in 2 months asking if anyone knows how to install a dehumidifier in the cabin.

I know this might be a little before your "time" however some of us (back in turn of the century) stopped the car, got out, walked around to the passenger door to hand crank the window. These were difficult times because we had little "time," managing three pedals on the floor, one hand on the wheel another trying to find a gear. Some of us didn't have push buttons on the radio, you actually had to turn a knob.

I noticed my moonroof, drivers window and rear window all have an auto down/open function . . . almost s$it myself . . . then I found out your still have to press 3 buttons.

If you've "got time," push the buttons. I realize being in your 20's now days is a real struggle.

Just take a Sawzall and chop off the roof. You'll probably need the AC one, don't know if the battery-powered one will last long enough.

Yea, I'm always getting tripped up trying to multi-task with this +/- shifter I have, but I feel like such a boss when I hit the gear. :biggrin1:

I think it would be child's play. Just get yourself a 4-20 ma temperature transducer, amplifier card, output signal generator (make sure it has adjustable set points) and wire it into your window controls! Once you fiddle with it a bit once the temp hits 75 degrees *BAM* the windows go down. Go do that and report back. I'll wait. What, you don't want to? Then why ask the question dude.

get out and walk around? i would just reach over but then again some of the classic cars were built like boats so it was a far ways to reach to do that. says the guy in his early 30's.

Actually, I think the newer cordless ones would do it. They seem to last pretty good at work.

To the OP: accomplishing the 'one button' window down feature is easy. Just use a t-tap wire thingy and splice the hot wire from your KDSS on/off button to the ground wire of your auto on/off headlight module. Run that through your factory 110v inverter in your driver's seat console and you're done.
