For the tire experts (5th gen)

Just bought 5th Gen SR5. My 4th 4Runner. Tires are 265/70R 17 Dunlop AT20 Grandtrek. They must be changed as we spend 6 months in Baja, highway and off road. Lots of potholes at 70 mph, no way the Dunlops are staying on. Looking at Michelin LTX M&S or M&S2. Costco has best deal. Are "club" tires (Costco, Walmart, Sams, etc.) different when the same tire as others offer? How does the LTX seem for our use (wife's car, I have a 4X4 Tacoma TRD)? I want durability and highway quiet, 4X4 use not that important. There's too much tire info out there, turning to the experienced experts who aren't selling anything.

I am no expert, but I just spent a lot of time doing research on new tires for my 2010 SR5 and I am looking at the Firestone Destination AT (C-load). There are some other great tires that fit what you are looking for, but this ended up being my top choice, now the only problem is finding a set.

Agree on the Firestone Destination AT's.... look much more aggressive and have great reviews.

I just put them on at the Firestone shop today for a great deal. $230 after tax and everything which included labor and a 50,000mi protection plan. They gave me the full retail value credit for the sorry Bridgestone Dueller HT's... but since you have Dunlops, I doubt they'd be able to do that deal.

I'm a huge Michelin LTX fan. I've had several sets on my SUVs over the years. They handle well, they're quiet and last forever. I got my last set at Sam's and they were around $400 OTR. The tires were flawless.

Is the Bridgestone Deuller stock tire on the 2010 T4R better than the Dunlops stock ?. anybody know ?.

I would say firestones because you can get them in 275/70/17, but the ltx's are great as well

I've been seeing a lot of b*tc#ing in other threads about both stock tires...so it sounds like they equally suck unless you purchased a 2WD... then you might be happy with them.

You'd think a 4X4 would come stock with All-Terrain tires, but no...

Will733 did you get the LT or the P-metric firestones? I am probably going to get those tires before the snow falls but I am torn between the p rated and the Lt tires

I agree with the above posters. My 2004 has Firestone Destination A/T's and that's most likely what the 2010 will be getting next. They have been excellent on road and off. Will, they look good on your 4Runner.

If I were going to spend six months of the year in Baja, with lots of off-road driving, I'd go with the BFGoodrich AT KO or MT KM2.

Regarding the choice of P and LT rated tires...I went with P.
