I installed 2" toytec spacers in the front and 1.5" spacers in the back...still have a slight rake and it rides great. Also looks good with 265/70/17 terra grapplers. Once I spend the big bucks on a full suspension overhaul...the big tires will be a necessity. but for now, this lift makes the 4runner look a bit more aggressive...and it is easy to install. Hope this helps anyone looking at this option - I had a tough time finding pics of people who have done something similar...most were the 3/2 lifts...

The kit # from toytec is FJ3-RSP-2 (looking at the invoice they sent). Actual part numbers broken down: 2" front spacer = TAC2 and 1.5" rear black poly spacer = FJRS-15 ...and thanks, I like the look a lot. A bigger lift just isnt needed for me right now and most of my offroading is on the beach.

What about the whole Billstein 5100's with FJ springs thing I've been seeing on here a lot? Does that give a better ride than spacers?

When you say the install was easy.. can you elaborate on this? is a spring compressor needed? Never worked on suspension before

The kit ran me $189, which is not a bad deal and saves you about $30 from ordering the two items separate. I got a local shop to do the install, since I wanted to make sure the alignment was adjusted as well as the headlights so I dont blind people. It is about a 4 hour job for one person.

As for the 5100's etc...that is probably a better option for off-roading purposes - absorb the shock better. But to be honest, if you are going to be off-roading a lot then you need to spend the $ for a heavier system! I have been on some mild off-road trails to get to some fishing spots...and been on the beach as well...ride feels good - not stiff at all.

This is definitely the cheaper option to get you started and toytec is quality. Cornfed also makes good spacers and they are a small shop out of the VA beach area - $150 total for front and rear - I went with Toytec because I had a credit with them. It will also give you the lift bug and 6 months later you will be looking to go bigger!

No compressor needed...and no differential drop needed. This goes right above the stock coils. I guess install is not easy for anyone, but for an experienced tech it is. Not nearly as elaborate as some of the bigger lift kits out there! So, it will also take your local shop much less time to install = less cost in labor to you

really should have gone with bilstein shocks all around and ome springs in the back.. spacer lifts past .5 inch really messes with suspension geometry and gives no handling improvement.. found out a lot during my research to level the truck

but if it's just temporary in anticipation of a full overhaul then i'm sure it's all good..

how come didn't go wth 285? should fit no?

For me I just wanted something temporary (and inexpensive) until a big overhaul after the summer...and I might go with 285's...they will fit, but I might have to make some adjustments on the front fenders. I upgraded to the Terra Grapplers when I bought it about 6 months ago - minus the lift.

anyone else with the TAC2 spacers have an opinion?

well i decided i didn't want to settle and wanted a triple adjustable setup and sonoran steel track bar, so for <$100 and a few hours of my time i figured i'd try them out until the suspension makes it to the top of my fun-money list. i'm not a fan in general, but the used ones were cheap enough i figured i'd try them out.
