For those with 2/1 Cornfed lift

Hey guys, I'm really interested in getting the 2/1 lift but have a few basic questions that my search has not fully answered for me:

1. how many of you guys have adjusted the aim of the headlights? Is it necessary with a 2 inch lift in the front?

2. How long should I wait before getting an alignment? Is it okay to get it done right after the spacers are installed or do I need to wait a week or so to let them "settle in"? Any help would be appreciated!

1. It's not necessary but your beam will be at about the 2nd story windows of houses. I adjusted mine because I installed my HID kit a few days after the lift, so I didn't want to blind people.

2. As soon as you can. I did mine the next day. You don't need to let anything settle. The sooner the better.
 
k thx josh.....im prolly gonna get a buddy to help me install it and borrow a spring compressor. I also read in another thread (forgot to save it) that it would be a good idea to retighten certain bolts from the cornfed installation after a certain amount of time? Is there anything else I should do for proper maintenance?

Just re-check them every 5K with your regular maintenance. As for checking the bolts, check them after a week or so, I found a few that needed to be tightened after everything settled.
 
Josh your lights were that high after the lift ??

Your rake it really only an inch higher than stock correct ??

Yep, they were that high.

The difference between the front and back stock was something like 1"-1.5" but after the 2/1 it is more like .5" difference, so the rake is still slightly there, but barely noticeable. Just enough that it wouldn't look saggy if you were to tow something.
 
unless you like being high beamed all the time, adjust the headlights...and yes, after about a month of settling in, its time for an alignment!
 
so im a bit confused here...so josh says its okay to get an alignment right after the spacers are installed and lou says one should be done after a month or so. So is the general consensus to get one immediately after the install then another one a month later??

No, you only need one. However, it's up to you if you want to put uneven wear on your tires for a month. You can wait a few days before you get it if you want things to settle a bit, but I wouldn't wait any longer than that.

it depends on how much you drive in a month..I dont drive the T4R alot, so a month was ok for me....if your T4R is a DD, then a week or so should suffice.

That my whole issue with getting a 2/1 , is that I drive a lot and it's my DD.

I would get an alignment relatively soon .

Lou has an advantage of not being a DD .

Yeah, it's my DD so I only waited a few days.
 
ahh..okay that makes sense then...its my DD too..thx guys. I would go with the 3/2 cornfed...but i dont want to put too much strain on my suspension parts...and cause more accelerated natural wear compared to a 2/1..
plus..running 285's on a 3/2 requires trimming and im not a fan of that (call me anal)...265's look too narrow for a 3/2 IMO..but to each their own!
 
Do any of you guys that have the 3/2 or 2/1 cornfed have any problems getting in your garage or parking garages???
