For those with a Shrockworks front bumper & a winch..

Care to share some mounting pics?

I am utterly confused on how I am supposed to mount my winch inside my bumper..

The mounting bolts (bottom) face the front of the bumper. Sorry, no pics on hand.

The feet to the winch bolt to the back side face of the bumper. You will have to open the winch up and turn the lever setup. The line feeds from the bottom.

I received a metal bracket with several different holes in it which Mark at Shrockworks said is supposed to be used to mount a winch. There was actually also another small bracket which he said is to relocate the hood latch.

I got both of those. I attached the 'winch bracket' (I think I did it upside-down, though) but I can't see this thing holding the force of a winch.. I can bend the bracket with my hands.

I like what [MENTION=88231]having fun[/MENTION] said. I'll have to look at my bumper in the day light tomorrow to see exactly what you mean, but I get the jist.

For reference, this is the winch I have. I'm hoping that it's not too big..

As long as the bolt pattern is the same, it should work. Just going to have to turn the handle section a 1/4 turn to be able to access the handle through the cut out spot.

I only received a bracket for the control box as I remember. Post up the brackets in question, and it might refresh my memory. I can get some shots for you tonite when I'm of work.

The winch is going to be mounted on it's side if you want to imagine it that way. If you tipped that guy backwards 90*, you'll see 4 bolt holes in the front of the bumper that will line up with it's feet. I also clocked the clutch an additional 90* so it ended up facing downwards like the other folks have said. The winch itself doesn't connect to any type of bracket, just straight on to the bumper.

I got the winch mounted tonight :thumb3:. But I need to get a different fairlead. The winch came with a roller fairlead but it's way too massive to mount on the front.

I can just use the bottom 2 winch mount bolts and go thru the fairlead and then thru the bumper to the winch to mount it, I assume?

That's what you're supposed to do, but you more often than not have to buy longer bolts than the ones supplied. I've installed 2 of these guys and have had to make a trip to Home Depot/Lowes both times. In regards to the fairlead, look at other threads in regards to matching hawse vs roller fairleads with steel vs synthetic line.

Second the longer bolts....Sam had to help me out on that one..Got to go to the Ol Home Depot and use all of his change from his center console to buy two bolts. Make sure you get the high grade bolts though. dont want that bad boy ripping out of your bumper :sobbing:
