Got together with some friends and did some local messaging. It is a little more straight forward than what the official Yes on 4 campaign would have gotten around to. Five messages rotating on 4 different boards. Enjoy..

It will only cause "gridlock" for those who want to build something where it was never intended to be. And by "gridlock" I mean they will only have to wait until the next regular election which would be 2 years or less. Considering they that it is a permanent change to our community standards in a state that is running out of water and natural space that cooling off period is not a bad thing. For those who build by the rules it will have no effect. As for St Pete beach, their economy is no worse off than the rest of Florida's. In fact their Mayor is in favor of Amendment 4. The paid scumbags at the vote no campaign do like to try to pretend that it caused lawsuits in St Pete but those lawsuits are about (1) hotel property speculators who want to build 15 stories where they are only allowed 5 stories and (2) a city commission who failed to follow state law and tried to sneak changes through without public hearings. Look deeper and then vote yes on 4 so the rest of us have a say when incompetent or corrupt elected officials want to lower our community standards and lower our property values just to pay back their campaign contributors.
Personally I believe it will be the best thing for us. It is a warranty on our quality of life and community character backed up by our neighbors at the ballot box. I mean really, who is going to bring their company and their family to a place that can not promise fundamentals like stable neighborhood and school zoning, affordable water rates and predictable taxes, protection from over crowding, and reasonable assurance that the Florida they moved here for will still be around in 20 years?

Vote Republican? Sounds simple enough when when you look at their national campaign rhetoric but the local reality shows our best interests to be otherwise. Republicans have controlled our state government for over a decade. In that time our rivers turned green with algae, rich aquifers turned to dry sink holes, hundreds of millions of local tax monies were stolen under the disguise of CRAs, corporate boondoggles like commuter rail and desalination have crept in under the tent, and on and on and on.
Look local, look closer - When the national home market crashed we should have still been fine because Detroit was still Detroit and Florida was still Florida. But we weren't. Instead retirees and businesses are fleeing to Tennessee and the Carolinas because they have no confidence in our market fundamentals or stability.
It is easy to fall in love with the Republican talking points because so many of the mommy Democrat party giveaways are rotting our country from the core. Generations upon generations of welfare recitients. The refusal to eliminate the anchor baby loophole. But it is the refusal by BOTH parties to fix core problems that show the 2 parties are mere political theater designed to divide and conquer. Neither party really wants to prosecute those who hire illegals or change tariff policy that will bring jobs back to the states. The campaign finance reports prove the leaders of both parties serve the same masters as do the courts. Didn't McCain and Obama skipping down the aisle holding hands to pass Bush's Bail Out show prove this? Doesn't having to choose your wifes right to control her body or your right to bear arms to defend her show this? Don't fall for it.
The best chance we have is to tighten the rules at the local level (the only place people like us can) which will yield a better class of politician when the giveaways and donations that follow them go away. Maybe then some of the new blood will make the major course corrections we need in DC.
Seen your home value lately? One could easily say thank your Florida Republican legislature for that but it would be wrong. Democrats would have done the same thing if they were in power. In fact many of them voted right along with the Republicans when they stripped your environmental, water, and property protections back.
