Formatting USB Drive for Entune Using an Apple (Mac) Computer

I apologize if this has already been covered somewhere.

I did a lot of searching and couldn't find a solution to the problem I was having when formatting a thumb drive to Fat32 using my MBPro.

I could format it on my work windows computer and it would read the drive just fine but if i used my Mac it didn't recognize the drive.

I figured out that Mac defaults to the "GUID Partition Map" scheme in its Disk Utility app. All you need to do is select "Master Boot Record" in the Scheme drop down.

Screen Grab attached. I hope this helps some folks.

MBR is primarily a Windows structure to a file system (whether formatting FAT or NTFS etc) and Macs typically use GUID (whether formatting ext4 or AFS etc).

I thought boot records were only for bootable drives, not just simple mass storage like USB drives. Excellent discovery. I wonder if this is a limitation / overgeneralization made by Apple that we WILL be booting from a USB we are formatting.
